1st up, Spamalot.

Ive yet to see this show so I cant really compare the CD performances to the live performances but Ill do my best.
The lyrics and music are clever but sometimes, they seem I dont know how to say this but kind of repetitave. Like the same joke is being repeated throughout each song and it seems like the jokes in the lyrics are predictable and expected. That being said, the music is just about the same. It's clever but also predictable and not really as unique as a show billed with the name Monty Python above it calls for. I dont know. Its just that something is missing. The orchestrations are great, though.

1) Bright Side of Life (bows)

Sara Ramirez is the best part of this CD. Her voice is amazing.

Little Women was a really good musical. I really enjoyed it and this CD is not at all a letdown. In fact, its more amazing than I could have imagined. The lyrics are beautiful. I called them muddled when I first reviewed the show but looking and listening to them closer, I found them to be unbelievably lovely. The music, however is a bit muddled. I stick to my original comment on the music in that its good but noting amazing. But what the orchestra loses in quality and freshness, the orchestra makes up in elegance. The orchestrations sound phenomenal on this CD. The climaxes of the songs are beautifully built up by the orchestra (Here I Go... in ASTONISHING, and believe that she matters... in DAYS OF PLENTY etc etc).

3) Days of Plenty
2) The Fire Within Me
1) Astonishing

This is a wonderful, shockingly great CD. Sutton really, really stands out and shines on this CD ala the MILLIE OBC.
