Infinite- RE: your sig:
The way Karen prounounced the word, I think it was spelled "Theatre."
Avoid Myths & Hymns unless you reallllllly like Guettel. Like A LOT of Guettel-liking is going on.
I ran across The Wedding Singer CD today at Borders.
Avoid that.

Class Act, woot. I'm actually working on "Next Best Thing to Love" in my voice lessons.
Adam Guettel came to our school about a month ago. Look for us on PBS!

The Fact that The Wedding Singer was suggested 4 times makes me weap for humanity. The score is terrible, the lyrics are a joke.
Now if you're talking about shows currently playing
then
Chicago
Hairspray
The Color Purple
Jersey Boys
and then i guess Rent
if it's just all time then
Sweeney Todd
Dreamgirls
Ragtime
Merrily We Roll Along (the 1994 off broadway recording)
Caroline, or Change

No particular order - these are all modern/contemporary - no "classic musical comedies"
Into the Woods (arguably the most accessible, "starter Sondheim" show)
The Light in the Piazza (same but with Guettel)
Lippa's Wild Party
Bernarda Alba
Ragtime

Posted: 12/17/06 at 4:39pmYou'll all be happy to know that I went out and bought Follies today. I was buying stuff for my mom and decided to treat myself. But I'm still in the midst of compiling my "big list of Broadway musicals I must have" that I have to give to my mom. She told me to just give her a list so anytime she needs to get me a present, she knows what I need. lol
