If an actor is taken out of a show (like in Xanadu), can i get my money back? Or is that not allowed? Rude?

Honestly, I simply just don't want to see the show and am looking for an excuse to get out of it. So, either give me an excuse or talk me into liking it!

This is only possible when the person absent is "above the title" as in Grey Gardens for example.

If James is not above the title, then you can't get a refund. Go anyway! Don't take it seriously and have fun!!!

No, only if they're above the title. No one is Xanadu is.
Suck it up or sell it.

Why don't you go and possibly like it or if you aren't liking those chances, sell it?

She might sell a ticket for a show she'll love.

People can be so ignorant, the show must be so much fun, I wish I had the chance to see it...

Why did you get these tickets if you didn't want to see it in the first place? Were they a gift?

I'd go see it. It's a Broadway show - better than nothing.

James Carpinello isn't in the show now. He broke his foot...

As ManCape said, because Butler, Carpinello, and Roberts are above the title, you can indeed ask for a refund.

Carpinello has not left the show, he's still listed in the show's window-box cast list and is listed inside on the cast board (though absent).

Andre Ward is doing the role, with Marty Thomas understudying him.

I think thats what Kate is asking as an excuse to return the tickets. Carpinello is still listed and is listed above the title in both the playbill and in the theatre. If Kate wanted to she could try to claim that she purchased the tickets just to see him, and since he is not with the production at this time it would be a legit claim.

Carpinello's name HAS NOT been removed from cast board

He's not in the show NOW though. Meaning he's currently not performing the role.

I misread myManCape's post. I thought he was giving reason to go see the show because of those 3 actors, and I was confused as to why he listed James since he is currently absent.

Until the production replaces him, or he chooses to back out of the production he still with the show. His absence is no different from someone with the flu (aside from the fact that the producers know he wont be back anytime soon). He is still collecting his Xanadu checks.
