Would someone who has seen the new Broadway revival of "Fiddler on the Roof" be so kind, as to answer a couple of questions I have about the character of Fyedka in that production? Unfortunately, I couldn't see the faces clearly, being in the cheaper boondock seats. Was that Fyedka who offered Tevye his hand, and danced w/ him in the "To Life"/barroom scene? In the movie version, it was done by an unknown Russian. And was that Fyedka who beat up Perchik in the wedding/pogrom scene? If so, that would be inconsistent w/ Fyedka's character, who preached tolerance of all ppl to Chava and Tevye.

yes it was Fyedka who offered his hand to tevye in 'to life'. I'm not sure about him beating up perchik, but i don't think that it was him.
I don't know about the Broadway version, but in the run I just finished of Fiddler Fydeka was the one who danced with Tevye. And I highly doubt that Fyedka was involved in the fighting at the wedding because like you said it would be inconsistent. Although in our version he stands by and watches at the wedding.

In my high school's production of Fiddler, a random Russian danced with Tevye, as the script says. I guess it really doesn't matter who dances with him, but Fyedka makes sense (actually, our Fyedka couldn't sing or dance, so the dancing Russian also played the singing Russian along with Avram lol). And the script says Fyedka watches the pogrom, not getting involved. This is very important to the story, so I don't think it was Fyedka that faught Perchik.
