I think the MARY MARTIN ONE WINS!
That made me laugh out loud!
It didnt make me laugh out loud. I kinda made me cry. How about Harvey Fierstein as Peggy Sawyer in 42nd street?
Marissa Jaret Winokur as Aida?
Here it is: Bernadette Peters as Elphaba in Wicked? Imagine her a light shade of green with her bright curly red hair.

Mary Martin as Mimi with Cyril Ritchard as Roger. lol. ::cringe::
Many years ago in Australia the Dame Edna Everage character was actually considered for Miss Hannigan in Annie.

(Albin, you should never have been fished out of the koi pond!)
Loretta Swit as Magnolia in SHOWBOAT
Susan Lucci as Lady Macbeth
Regis Philbin as Macbeth
Michael Jackson as Othello
Donny Osmond as Iago
Mindy Cohen as Edna Turnblad
Dick Cavett as Prof Higgins
Dame Kiri Te Kanawa as Eliza Doolittle
Obviously Bernadette would wear a wig if she was green! She played an ugly old witch in ITTW and didn't have her red, curly hair until she transformed.
It would be so weird seeing her with a different hair color...even though she used to be blonde (and originally Brunette I think). She's been a red-head since like 1983, and all of her Broadway roles and movies since have had her in wigs very similar to her own hair.
Well, if she did keep her red hair, I think it would me an interesting rendition of the character-hehe.
Other scary casting-hmmm
Sutton Foster as Sally Bowles.
Vanessa Redgrave as Velma Kelley
Harvey Fierstein as Roxie Hart
Brian Dennehy as Link in Hairspray
Mary Bond Davis as Ulla in The Producers
LOL Fran Drescher as Eliza Doolittle.
She's just like Eliza (before her lessons). Gorgeous until she speaks.
OOO yay! That's so perfect. We could make it modern!
