I was working once on a live stage production of "The Wizard of Oz" (yes the Ding Dong The Witch is Dead version). The wicked Witch of the West had just made her entrance through a huge pyrotechnic when someone noticed a small spark had lit a portion of the house on fire and flames were creeping up the wall. As the WW said "Who killed my sister? Was it you? Was it you?" a huge whoooosh of Co2 fire estinguisher emitted from stage right, smothering the flame instantly (very alert crew member). The cast and Dorothy and the WW turned to see what happened. Dorothy muttered "Wow" and the Wicked Witch, without missing a beat said "Next time, it'll be you, My Preeeeety!!" Little kids in the audience screamed with fear and we went right back into the show.
