show recomendation

i'm going down to NY sometime in the next couple of months(can't remember when though) and i might be able to see a show on the saturday we go down

it would be me, my mom, my dad and my 11 year old sister(but she's seen the producers and i don't think my parents REALLY care unless it's completely innappropriate(sp?))

so far, on broadway right now, we've seen

Wicked
Spelling Bee
Spamalot
DRS
Sweet Charity
Producers
Lion King
Beauty and the Beast
and probably more i can't think of

also, it would probably have to have a 8:00 night show becuase of other plans during the day

thanks!

re: show recomendation

Not sure if all these shows have a Saturday evening performance, but:

The Light in the Piazza (beautiful, your sister will probably be bored to death though)

Hairspray (perfect...your whole family would love it)

Mamma Mia! (fun, cheesy, badly put together but totally entertaining)

Movin' Out (haven't seen it but I know it's closing in December and hear only very positive things about it)

The Color Purple (it should be open by then and everyone I know that saw it in tryouts etc said it was great)

Doubt (an incredible show that must be seen to be believed...your sister may be bored at this at well and may not understand the plot *it regards child molestation*--check my blog for a review if you want)

Sweeney Todd (the production is a little flimsy, but the material is just so amazing as are the performances that this production is a must see...your sister may not like this one either, its intense)

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (again, havent seen it but hear its adorable, the performances are all great, and its very fun no matter how dumb and corny it may be at times)

RENT (what with the movie coming out soon, this will be a tough show to get a ticket to, probably...it's great, and your sister may not fully grasp some of the baffling story lines and issues, but the music is just amazing)

Chicago (sexy, sultry, fun, exciting, simple, and an all around fantastic production...it's a great, great revival)

Again, there are reviews for a couple of these on my blog if you want to check. =)

I'd say Rent, but your parents might think it inappropriate. Hairspray seems like a great choice. It's such a fun and entertaining show.

Don't take your sister to see PIAZZA unless she's extremely precosious. (sp?) I enjoyed it, and I'm a 13- year old male, but I'm one of the most precosious kids I know

Hairspray/ Mamma Mia! are definately great choices.

She would not like the story of Sweeney Todd unless she's a horror fan, and the production, from what I've heard (I'm probably going soon, though.) you have to be familiar with the show to get the revival, though that's not always the case.

Doubt might be a bit too much for her from what I've heard (Another one I'm going to see soon.)

That's my perspective.
