But this time, i'm going to see it with my parents, and i'm kind of embarrased, I mean the first time, I saw it with a group of friends when we went to NY over Christmas break, so that was fine. But seeing it with my parents? idk

It all depends on your parents and your relationship with them.

Well the less conservative your parents are and the closer the relationship you have with them, the more comfortable it will be to sit through a performance with them since the show deals with a lot of provacative issues.

Well if you have a open and comfortable relationship with your parents, then I don't see why anything in Spring Awakening would be awkward to see with them. It just depends on their comfort level and their comfort level with you.

I personally don't think there would be any problems, but I know that is not always the case for everyone.

I don't think he meant to be attacking you at all. Parent/Child relationships can be sticky when it comes to issues like the ones portrayed. If you have a better, more comfortable relationship with your parents, I think that's great!

Just talk to your parents beforehand. You have the advantage of having seen it before, so you know exactly what they will see.

I listen to Avenue Q in the car with my mom, but would NEVER with my dad. It just depends on how open you are about those sorts of issues.

I saw "Ave Q" with my mom, and felt like hiding under my chair a few times....

I'm a mom who went to see Spring Awakening with my teenage daughter. Believe me ,there were a few moments where I cringed, but that was more because I was thinking how uncomforbale she must of felt. THe audience laughs at the masterbation scence which eases the tension. It really will be fine. What is the worst thing that could happen? The show is so much more than those few scenes. I thought it was awesome!

I would definitely warn them and discuss the show ahead of time. Depending on your relationship, it doesn't have to be a big deal. I would think that a discussion beforehand will allow you to feel more comfortable and enjoy the show.

So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?
