my personal candidates:
megan mullally (a recognizable name with the build and that voice)
cady huffman
jessica simpson
A ton of suggestions in this thread:

Meagan Mullally is a bit old as is Cady Huffman. Jessica Simpson...is...well...Jessica Simpson. A Friend of mine sugested Jane Krakowski. I think that would be good.

amen BG2, She has the sex appeal, has a big enough name outside AND inside the broadway community, has a great voice.
Jane could definitely do it - she can do anything, but the part is so terribly written and I would hope they'd beef it up for a star in the movie. Jessica Simpson would be my other pic, although I would LOVE to see Britney do it.

Britany wouldnt be aweful. Call me extremely gay, but I actualy saw Crossroads....twice. And I own it. Im not ashamed.
another suggestion- christina aguilera
She's an amazing performer. But, her name is spelt BRITNEY, that's extremely important. Call ME extremely gay. She could DEFINITELY do the role. It's so badly written that the actress doesn't need to be all that amazing, and the one song she has, she growls through it so it doesn't matter. It's such a waste of a song.

Forgive me, I was mistaken. Britney*. I didnt mean to dis her. I actualy LOVE her. When I sad "wouldnt be aweful" i meant it as "she would be fantastic." Updated On: 12/11/04 at 02:55 AM
I know what you meant but you still spelt her name wrong...
Honey, you spelled it wrong again.

no nicole...hmmmmm....maybe now we'll get someone who has a figure. I can only hope. Since the part sort of demands it.
Remember the good ol' days for Nicole? Before botox and EXTREME weightloss. Yup, she actually had breasts and even a figure and her face didn't look like you could bounce a quarter off of it. I miss the "Far and Away" Nicole.

****. Sorry, just fixed it. Damn I just cant type tonight!
Jane K. the end.
I'm surprised no one has said it yet---
Sherie Rene Scott!
Huh. That never ocurred to me. She probably doesn't have the star power they want, though.
But that...that I would pay to see.
would love to see SRS, dont know about in the movie though...
Jenna Leigh Green
The fact is that NO Broadway actress will have the star power they want for the box office. If they stick with the box office approach (which has gotten them into big trouble with the stage musical BTW) they will have to look for someone else and settle for someone that will be less than skilled at singing and dancing. But Britney, Christina, Jessica? PUH-LEEZ guys...this isn't a music video...it's a full fledged Broadway show that requires BELTING not breathy, poorly enunciated singing. Get these kids to an elocution teacher and let the REAL singers take over.
If they go Broadway actress, then just go with Cady. She already knows the role and is proven in it.
Someone said SRS on the other thread, but someone else pointed out that Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is taking up too much of her time for her to be able to do a film.
I suggested Sarah Jessica Parker before, and I still think she'd be great.
I know this might only make sense to me, but I really feel like Sarah Jessica Parker is too pointy for Ulla.
Okay...for what it's worth...here's my two cents.
Jane Krakowski, Jane Krakowski, Jane Krakowski
Maybe we could get Dolly Parton....she's got the rack for it.
As for Jessica Simpson. I think she'd work if you want to watch Ulla try to bite her ear off every time she belts "when you've got iiiiiiiiiiit...." Note sarcasm, please.
Ulla wears too many clothes for Britney to even consider taking the roll.
These girls just don't have the chops to be taken seriously as actresses.....sorry.
Idina Menzel...she can do anything
