Roscoe, you are not so much in the minority as you may think. I saw it yesterday afternoon and there was a stampede to get out of the theatre at the end, plus audience reaction was so-so, at best. The recurring comments that I overheard were people saying they didn't understand it, they couldnt follow it or that it was too long. Plus, noticed some vacant seats when the 2nd act started and there were some who left in the middle of the 2nd act. And I agree with the comment about the flyer.

Frogs, do they still have those long long long scene changes, where the band personnel of assorted bands are projected on a screen?

I couldn't resist this one. Yes, they do have the band selections during the numerous scene changes. I'll go on record that I found that the most enjoyable/tolerable part of the afternoon. I suspect I'm not alone in this.

Thanks, Ed. I found the play very easy to follow. I just couldn't have cared less about anyone or anything in it. Is that really what Tom Stoppard wants? A display of the band personnel of PINK FLOYD to be projected on a screen to cover scene changes?

Yes the projections with the overly detailed information about each song between the scene changes is still there. I didn't mind it because those are some of my favorite bands, but it was so forced. What bothered me more was that the music playing between certain scenes was not from the years that were then projected before the scene started up again. A minor issue of continuity, but irksome nonetheless. They might have been trying to add an air of authenticity to a "period" piece with all of that added information, but eliminating these "scenes" could shorten the show by ten minutes.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the years of the music in question. I got so bored I started to look around at the sets, and noticed that in the several years the play supposedly covers, not a single thing changes on the shelves of Jan's apartment, not a single poster or photograph on the wall is ever moved a jot. I felt kind of churlish for noticing it, at the time.
