#0someting you have not listened to in a while........

I decided to listen to some of my older things. Things I have not listened to in a while, and I put on:
Little Me(obc)- intresting, it was ok....good
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang(movie soundtrack)- fantastic, I love the music box number.
Sound of Music(movie soundtrack)- I just watched the movie on TV and decided to listen to the soundtrack, Julie Andrews does it for me.
Kiss of the Spiderwoman(obc)- I LOVE THIS!!
Joesph....(Donny Osmand)- this is great! the harmony is great! I gotta pick up this dvd......

so, what is something you have not listened to in a while that you have recently re-discoverd?

Phantom of the Opera.
seeing as I never much liked it.

But I saw the film a few hours ago and I was somewhat blown away.

And being a shameless shill like I am, here is my review.

about a month ago i picked up the YAGMCB recording and i can't put it down! It reminded me how much i loved the show, especially the cast.

"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell plus i proudly share the title of the shortest member over the age of 10 with wickedrentq!

I put Taboo on the other day for the first time in a couple of months. I don't know why I ever stopped listening to it so often, seeing as it's one of my favorite recordings.

I don't find the original YAGMCB as listenable as the revival. Maybe it's because the acompaniement is so simple in the original and there is a blandness to that recording that I don't like. I think the revival recording embodies the characters from the comic strip better than the original.

The revival is definitely better. And now I'm listening to Fiddler on the Roof which I haven't listened to since May.

to tell you the truth, i have never heard the original recording. THe revival is so good though that i don't think i want to! I sound so closed minded right now.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the YAGMCB soundtrack with Anthony, Roger, Kristen...ahh, it's so great! At first I thought it was a little childish and uninteresting, but then I realized, hey! they're supposed to be these little kids from the Peanuts' strip. Ahh, the cast is amazing! And like zippyjen, the revival is so amazing, I don't want to bother listening to the first one...

And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.

I agree that the revival is much better. The new songs and dialouge, really complete the show. I could not imagine the show without them......

I put in the 1999 American version cast thing of "FAME". Why?! I honestly have no idea. I can honestly say that it's the worst recording of ANYTHING that I own. Updated On: 1/2/05 at 03:17 PM
