Posted: 7/9/05 at 12:40pmI hate to say it but a la Wicked, Mamma Mia, and The Lion King, this will be a hit with or without its original cast members. The show MAY experience a drop in ticket sales/attendance but it wont be anything to complain about.

There are so many tons of out of work former sitcom stars and stand-up comics out there, they will have NO trouble filling these roles after the OBC cast departs.
Besides, "Monty Python" is the star here and what attracts the crowds, not Tim Curry or David Hyde-Pierce.

Nope - I will wait a little - Have nothing to lose but I will tip my hat to Margo in general as a fountain of knowledge & one of the more literate & thoughtful posters on the board from day one. The board would be a barren place indeed without her insight
Hat just tipped

Even without the cast - Monty Python has such a cult following! I have faith that Monty Python fans will continue to see this no matter who is in it. Even as a non-huge-Python fan, I loved the show just for the fun factor!
Edit: Margo put it perfectly.

When I did SRO to see it, it looked like Tim Curry was out. Turned out he wasn't, but David Hyde Pierce was. But as my brother put it, "We didn't come for Tim or David, we came for Monty." So I think it'll keep doing well.
(By the way, that's not entirely true. We also came for Alan Tudyk. We're big "Firefly" fans.)
