For a Sat. night performance - how long is the usual wait before the cast comes out? And do they all use that one stage door? Or do they slip out some other way?

The question is "how do they slip in".
Sorry... Uh..
You've gotta think it takes Idina a while to strip out of the green makeup. My experience has been varied. I'd say about 10-30 minutes. Stars take longer.

I stayed after at the stage door two days before Christmas, and it didn't seem like it took a long time for them to come out. I only stayed for Idina and Taye to come out and that was it...it seemed like it was about 30 minutes...but it could be longer.

Only 10-30 minutes? I was expecting much longer. I'm sure Idina takes awhile to de-green. What would you say is the wait for the "stars"?

broadwayguy2- We've already corrupted Mister Matt with his Jello comment. Now ckeaton is becoming like us. The Fab 5 is almost formed! Craig can be our director and Rob can be our producer. What do you think about that boys?

Ok you naughty boys - - behave!

So, back to my "topic"... What are the crowds like at the stagedoor? Is it a push and shove contest? I've never done the stagedoor thing, but am considering it for this show.

The 1st Saturday after Christmas we waited at the stage door. Michele Federer, Christopher Fitzgerald and William Youmans came out within 15 minutes. Most folks didn't recognize Youmans so he scooted past most of us. Carole Shelley, Joel Gray, and Kristen must have used another door. Idina and Taye took a while, maybe half hour. They were generous with their time, she chatted w/ us briefly because we had her cd.

There was a fairly big crowd, we hustled out of the theatre to get a spot on the "barricade".

on an A&E interview...Idina said that it was pretty easy to put on her make-up......in her words, "like painting watercolor on my face...."
So maybe it takes little time......a simple shower to get it off?

Kristin NEVER comes out of the stage door. She always slips out of a different door.

"Kristin NEVER comes out of the stage door. She always slips out of a different door."

And, quite frankly, I don't blame her. I wouldn't blame any of them for not coming to the stage door when it's been as cold as it has been. I'm so tired of complaints, (not saying that you were complaining but I've read tons!), that Kristin hasn't been doing the stage door thing. First of all, she's already been seriously ill. Do you really think she's going to risk that again? Truthfully, I would rather see healthy performers than get an autograph any day. Chances are that when the weather warms up more stage door appearances will be made. Be patient.

Kristin never comes out. Idina always comes out, and she doesn't take too long. The few times I went to the stage door it was great, but when I went to the show on January 3 the stage door guy wasn't there so it was a MOB scene. People were quite upset because they couldn't get through the crowd to get autographs. I suggest going to the door RIGHT after the show in case this happens.

I saw Wicked on a Wednesday night. The stage door is on 53rd. Both Idina and Kristin came out. It took about 30 or 45 minutes, but get there as soon as the show is over because it gets VERY crowded.

Supposedly, the Gershwin has multiple stage doors.

The day after Christmas I saw Wicked, and waited at the stagedoor. Idina, Taye, and Kristen didn't come out- the Gershwin has lots of doors I guess. Michelle Federer came out, signed, left somewhat quickly. A lot of the ensemble came out our door but seemed in a hurry as well- it was cold! There are barricades, it's pretty crowded I'd say. I stayed until the guard told us no one was left inside, so it was a while.

TO ELPHABA:

Idina told me (at the stagedoor, cause i asked) that it takes 45min to put the make up on and 10 to take it off... but she has to scrub... and shower? i went the first time in Oct. and she didn't come out for about 30min, CHenoweth was about 10... norbert at 15/20.... i don't know about taye though... i went to a matinee and saw him and NOBODY came out for that one...(duh...)

So if you're going to a matinee, don't even bother with the stage door, then?
