Posted: 5/28/05 at 9:52pmI really, enjoyed the show. Of, course I saw it when it was in Minneapolis witht the original cast. Charty's friends are new for New York, which is very interesting sice Natascia and Solange where the two that got raves in every city!! I guess they needed two girls who could not shine so much. But, yes see the show and I know that you'll have fun - It's not Hamlet, but it's a fun evening!

Posted: 5/28/05 at 10:08pmI saw Sweet Charity about a day or two after it opened, and I got student rush tickets at about 6:30 when curtain was at 8. The seats are at the left side of the orchestr, and only Denis O'Hare's 1st scene is a bit cut off in the elevator. If you plan on seeing the show, I 100% go with student rush. The show is absolutely adorable, but certainly not worth $50 a ticket. I would suggest seeing the show. It's cute and fun. Like chenofan said, it isn't Hamlet, so don't expect to turn out a better person or learn some great moral. It's a good old fashioned dancing show.

Chenofan-What do mean "they needed two girls who could not shine so much"?
Janine LaManna and Kyra DaCosta are AMAZING. They BY FAR outshined Charity. THey also got rave reviews in cities as well. Plus Janine has a much stronger rep on B'way. Kyra was amazing too, well be seeing more of her.

Nickie and Helene really bothered me, I don't really know why, I just kind of hated them.
Anyway, I was in the city early when I went so I just stopped by the box office a little after 10 and got front row of the left orch on the center aisle.
The left side is really good, I think sitting that close on the right side, you'd definitely have trouble seeing Charity in the closet, but the upside would be you getting to see Dennis in the first elevator scene. And I definitely wouldn't spend $50 on the show...it's cute, but I can't see spending that much money on it. Another bonus about the left side is that if you get bored during the Frug, you can watch Christina running around the wings. It was FASCINATING.

Posted: 5/28/05 at 11:31pmI really enjoyed this show! I HATED Christina as Charity, she couldn't sing worth a damn, but her acting is good, and the dancing is such an awesome spectacle...

Not really. Something about them really bothered me. But I think using their resumes as a counter-argument is kind of senseless.

I just got rush on Thursday night for Charity and I was very pleased with the seats. I went at 12 for the 8 show and got Row N seat 25 (which was all the way to the right) but once I got to the seat they really weren't that bad seats. It sounded like the girl that was sitting next to me and just bought her tickets a few hours before the show (she had tried q and drs lotteries up the street) and was sitting right next to me. It rocked because the people closer to the center aisle of us didn't show so we got to move over like 5 seats! Pretty lucky but awesome! DEF worth it and no problem with the seating.
I think that it helped that Charity's friends were seasoned Broadway performers. They definetely had a more skilled way of entertaining the audience then "I'm a star look at me!" This was totally how their characters were in the show too...a little more seasoned "dance hall hostesses" compared to Charity's innocence. So yeah IT WAS AWESOME.
Dennis O'Hare....sigh...I wish him the best of luck and HIS NAME front and center in big lights one of these days. He was CRACKING ME UP and TOTALLY won the audience in his 10 minutes in the elevator! I only gave him my standing ovation...

Posted: 5/29/05 at 1:16amI did rush 3 days ago and got 1st row center. Got there at 11:30 am. Maybe I was lucky?

Posted: 5/29/05 at 1:22amWoW!!! HOtttt. You could see Charity in the lake! Big Spenda right there in yo face! Did that Life Church guy blow your eardrums up there with his pop tenor notes? Very lucky I guess...I thought they would only give me side ones...maybe they want center orchestra to look full no matter what?!

Dreamz-
Do you guys accept High School IDs? Also if you get there when the box office open would you have a pretty good chance of getting 1st row seats?

Posted: 5/29/05 at 1:21pmBway, I agree with you. Christina really wasn't the star of the show, all the others around her were. I actually really wanted to see her dance, but she couldn't because it was right after the ankle injury. She was actually wearing big gold boots, haha. But she did do a little bit of dancing, and she definately looked like she knew what she was doing, I just didn't like her voice, I wanted her to really belt, and she could hardly reach the notes. But, she's still adorable...

How much are rush tickets? Do I need cash only, like at most of the others? Do you do rush for every show?
That sounds like something I need to check out. I know Seth, one of the principal dancers, from school, and it would be cool to see him in something.

I wanna know if you can buy Rush tickets for the evening show when the box office opens, even though there is a matinee. Anyone know?
