On the new DVD London production of KISS ME, KATE with Rachel York, in act two there is a song sung by the General and Lilli in her dressing room, I think prior to the song "Bianca". What is the title of that song? And why is it not on any of the recordings? Not even the supposed '93 "complete" cast recording...
Can anyone explain the origin of this "mystery song"???
Thanks!
Sure. It's "From This Moment On", which was written for OUT OF THIS WORLD, The Porter show which immediately followed KISS ME KATE. It was dropped from OUT OF THIS WORLD during tryouts and was later put into the KISS ME KATE film (MGM) where it was notably sung and danced by Ann Miller, Tommy Rall, Bob Fosse & Carol Haney.
It was also in the Broadway revival, although I've often wondered why it's not on the revival recording.
It's a great song, I'mm working on it in my voice lessons now.
So they used it for the revival and then didn't record it? How strange..... especially since the CD was only about 65 minutes long. They had plenty of room (15 additional minutes) for another song and some additional dialogue. I hate it when they do that. Why even bother making a CD if it's not something to be proud of?
