I've always thought Enchanted April "sang"...it would be great to musicalize it.
Do I even have to say it? I mean really it's so obvious!
wait...enchanted april??what's that?
ENCHANTED APRIL is one of the worst plays ever written. Although there is something musical about it, any further adaptation of the play - whether it be another movie or a musical, would ONLY be an improvement.
I'm sticking with SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE. I want to write it myself!
very cool, maybe we can team up!!
writing musicals is fun. i've writen a coupla sketches and songs but i think that America could use a true american musical (neW) not an adaptation. something that speaks to you, if you don't care about the plot/characters than the musical will be lackluster. what a wise english teacher told me:
write what you care about
But that doesn't always mean other people will care.
Look at BROOKLYN. They wrote an original musical about something they know and care about. And it's very amateur.
very true..you have no idea how many ideas i've had...original ideas!! at least 100 shows i've written and thrown out b/c they were way too similar to other shows already in existence, or they didn't make any sense!! so i'm stuck with adaptions til i get a brilliant idea!!
Adaptations aren't a bad thing - almost EVERYTHING is just a version of something else.
There was a musical version on Brekfast at Tiffany's. Horrible Flop. Im always suprised how many people havent read Not Since Carrie.
Brooklyn had potential Munk. it coulda been good.
No. The only potential BROOKLYN has is that John McDaniel is it's musical director.
BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S should be re-written.

I assume you're joking about Taming of the Shrew... but for anyone who read that and didnt scream Kiss Me Kate at their monitor.. it's already (sucessfully) been done.

I know this is suggestion is going to be out there, I think there are a few concept albums out there that could be a great musical. We already have Tommy and maybe The Wall comming. One concept album that would be interesting to do is Queensryche Operation: Mindcrime.
Here is the gist of the story from wiki:
Operation: Mindcrime is Queensrÿche's third full-length album, which was released on May 3, 1988. It is a concept album about a man becoming disillusioned with American society, and joining in a conspiratorial plot to assassinate its corrupt leaders, with spoken dialogue between songs that advances the story and ties the songs together.
hmm...interesting....sounds too complicated for someone like me...lol...let's leave that to the professionals...lol
Moulin Rouge I think would be an awesome musical on stage....also, when the Roald Dahl musical came up, I think it sounds like a great idea! Charlie and the Chocolate Factory might be a nice musical, but yeah..Witches would be great, I think!
