hey, I'm currently working on writing a musical or adapting a movie or book into a musical....is there any plot/storyline, book, or movie anyone wants to see become a musical???
thanks PM or simply reply to this thread, you'll be of great assistance!!
ric
Let's see,
How about a musical about Dian Fossey. But with real Gorillas.
Or how about a musical about the South African apartheid (but this one with a plot)
Or how about a black woman trying to make it as a succesful businesswoman in the white man's world?
Or how about a musical based on Ruby Bridges?
How about one that takes place in a restaurant (Oh, the choreography!)
How about a musical based on Mary Todd Lincoln?
Or a musical based on The Cowsills?
Both Mary and the mother of the Cowsills spent their final days in an insane asylum.
Better yet, Typhoid Mary: The Musical.
great thanks for the ideaS!!! anyone else?? ideas??

I want to see His Dark Materials but that's probably unrealistic like lotr! lol it was a great play though...
Love your icon!!
I've always thought that the movie Prince of Egypt would make a great musical - although people may not want to see another Joseph type plot
yea i see what you mean...i thought of doing that...i also wanted to adapt the movie CAMP...any other ideas?

OMG! I adore Camp, that would be a good idea, but I think a totally new idea might be better, to get a big hit! HM.... it would be kind of copyright prone or whatever, but Pocahontas would be really fun to do!

I personally think PRETTY WOMAN would make a great great stage musical...
What about THE SISTER ACT or MISS CONGENIALITY??

eh, I dont know if you can top the mastery of sister act, lol, amazing as it was. It could be fun though. We need more gospel type musicals today! You could do it, it would have to be really hip though. Miss congeniality would be kinda hard I would think, but I'm not the genious here, lol
oh now that we have hit the movies...Ever After? it's not actually a spectacular movie but maybe it would be awesome as a musical. Oh Princess Bride! lol i'm a sucker for fairy tales and i don't remember the last time the city didn't welcome fairy tales with open arms. i agree with TenorGod that it maybe something new would be good but spins on traditional tales are always intriguing!

ooooo Ever After!!! That would be really fun! With all the levels of the dungeon and stuff. Lots of room for really good songs and very humerous stuff. I like that a lot
ooh i agree with the princess bride idea!

whoops, lol, I meant princess bride, I got them confused
i don't think i've ever seen that movie...princess bride??? what's it about?

OMG, only the best fairy tale since Walt Disney! The movie is sort of a comedy about a far off land, love triangle, its wonderful. The book is awesome, u need to experience both of them

Bridget Jones the musical! Well, it worked with Billy Elliot! hehe that would be funny but wouldn't work...oh well, it worked in my head when I thought of it...i'm gonna shut up now
Oooh actually...more ideas :oD
Something by Roald Dahl, perhaps The Witches. Then there is the film Breakfast at Tiffany's...I would be intruiged to see a musical version of this. There is also the film 'Little Voice' with Jane Horrocks and Ewan McGregor that would be good. Maybe dirty dancing...oh and the final one I thought of was ANASTASIA. The film has some wonderful songs and I have often imagined it being put on a stage. I think it could work quite well :o)

My only problem with all these modern comedic movies is that it might be one of those one hit wonders where people will see if for the first week and then get bored, ya know? Thats why I think an older more whethered story, or a completely new one would be good
lol i think actors would trip over themselves to get the roles of Wesley and Buttercup! :) go watch the Princess Bride broadwaybelter!!

sorry, a bit off-topic but whenever I see your icon Juliet I think Brian Kenny from Queer as Folk, lol, it stumps me every time. Anyways, I agree that the roles, if done properly, could be classic
I think SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE would make a GREAT musical - it already is very theatrical, and it would transfer remarkably.

agreeable, but I think shakspeare in bway is been a bit overdone, parodies I mean. Its a wonderful story though and could be done really well
You think Shakespeare on Broadway is a bit overdone? What do you mean parodies? SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE is certainly not a parody.

I didn't mean THAT was a parody, although it is completely ficticious, but I meant like dif Shakespeare-like morals in modern musicals.
