I think it has a lot of potential and I'm hoping the Weisslers will bring it to Broadway next season. I'm just waiting for the Weisslers and Disney to duke it out over Kerry.

No cast album was recorded for this show. I doubt it will have a second life, it got a pretty mixed reception in San Fran.

I have to disagree BobbyBubby. It has its flaws, but for a show that hasn't even rehearsed for Broadway yet, I felt it was in pretty good shape. I think a lot will depend on how DRS does at the Tony's this year. The two shows are, in my opinion, in the same vein of Musical Theatre. I think that if people see that DRS is successful, than the equally spunky Opposite of Sex has a good shot of making it to Broadway.

I love when Rath sums up everything I was trying to say in my paragraph into a four-word sentence.

based on the two movies and the plotlines, if opposite of sex on stage is "in the same vein" as drs then i pretty much feel that they've ruined the movie.

It isn't remotely dead and alread has undergone quite a few changes from the SF run - which may have garnered mixed reviews by the critics, but was an audience favorite at the Magic Theatre.

I didn't say I thought it was good/bad (I did not see it), I just said it got a bad reception from critics and industry people.
I would love to see how they transfer this great movie on stage, but it really didn't get the kind of buzz that merit's a transfer to Broadway. They would be best to play off-broadway and see how it goes there.

ap, I saw the presentation in January and purposely rented the movie to re-watch right before. The musical at that point was pretty much two or three words away from being verbatim. I am a huge fan of the movie and would have been quite disappointed with anything less. I loved the workshop.

Bobby
I'm not sure why you think it was rec. badly. It was mixed to positive. And other than reviews, what "industry" people are you referring to? Finally, if you haven't seen it, how can you comment on the viability of a broadway run?
Renthead, you can check out https://www.broadwayworld.com/viewcolumn.cfm?colid=1418 and https://www.broadwayworld.com/viewcolumn.cfm?colid=1267 for more info about the show
There are no other videos/mp3s available at current

I don't know, it all seemed like a bland reception. I just think tranferring to Broadway would be a big mistake. Off-Broadway is better suited for this kind of show.

Apdarcey- By "in the same vein", I meant that they were both musicals based movies that have a lot of spunk and comedy (albeit different styles of comedy) and are not afraid to be crass and profane at times.
BobbyBubby- I've considered that too. Not a bad idea for it to play off-Broadway. I think it would be funny if it played at the Zipper and everybody was sitting in car seats when Kerry says she's about to "take you on a wild ride".
I knew Craig would pop up here eventually.

Well it didn't garner Harispray or Producers out of town buzz, that's for sure - but it's because it's not a big splashy musical. And yes, off-Broadway would be a great avenue to go, but the right Broadway house would be just as appropriate.

The Weisslers do not want to place it off-Broadway.

See I disagree. I don't think it has much commercial market potential-again, this does not reflect my opinion about the show's quality itself. I think that starting off-broadway, getting a big buzz, getting the young set in, and getting some great reviews, THEN a Broadway transfer.

The Weisslers are attached to it? Ugh. Then cast Debby Boone and Frankie Avalon, and play the Eugene O'neill. Hehe.

I saw the show twice in October. It was pretty good, but the cast is what made it outstanding. I asked Karen Ziemba where they were going next on the last day of their run (halloween) and she didn't seem to know, so I feel like the show's kind of dead- or at least on hold- as of now.
All I am saying is give Lennon a chance!!
