I saw Cats when I was 7. Front row with the runway next to my right arm. It remains one of the most memorable nights of my life.
That was IT for me.

I saw Little Women at my community theatre. After that I was the co-lead trumityer(sp?), I was 5 so it was big to me. I was a HUEMUNGO Wizard of OZ fan too. Those 3 things were the pre- theatre mania stage. Then my mom and dad took me to the 1st nat. tour of Beauty and the Beast, and thats were it ALL started!

OH!!!! I forgot! I was a DISNEY kid when I was little, so all the music inspired me to do theatre I guess youed say.

I was randomly doing local theatre just having fun and whatever not really thinking anything. My mom took me to see "Big" and all the kids looked like they were having so much fun on stage and the lead boy (i dont even remember his name) sang this song and he went for the high note and couldn't hit it and i just looked at my mom and told her. "he can't sing. I'm a hundred times better." and so i was like i'm gonna be better then him. And whenever i enter a theatre or read a play or listen to a great singer i get the craziest butterflies and i just wanna leap out of my seat and take over.

For me, it was the national tour of Miss Saigon. My first musical was actually Fame, but I really fell in love with theater when I saw Miss Saigon. I just sat there in awe watching (excuse the corniness) the magic on that stage. My cousin and her husband were in the cast, and they took me and my family backstage. That was it for me...I was on love.

It was seeing Les Miserables on the Tonys. After that, I was obsessed.

I saw Betty Buckley in a local production of The Sound of Music when I was 4 and I remember it so vividly. I remember being glued to everything happening on the stage and begged my grandmother to take me to more shows like that.

**Sidenote: Betty Buckley stood at the front of the theater greeting people as they left. She scared me a little when she hugged me because it was the first time I had ever seen someone from the TV in person - and I didn't quite know how that was possible at that age. It's amazing that I remember so much of that day being so young....

its hard to pinpoint when i got obcessed. it was actually relatively recent when my english teacher (one of the biggest les mis freaks i have yet to meet) had a field trip to see the tour and i thought it would be fun. i rented the TAC at blockbuster and i became obcessed. everytime i go to a show i start crying during the overture because i want to be up there so bad.

Thou giveth fever.

That sentence applies to most movie versions of musicals. A Chorus Line is no exception.

ok the show that made me chose theatre... hmmm it sort of evolved over the years... like the first show i ever saw on broadway was 'les miserables' and my mom personally knew the guy that played 'javert', so after the show we got to go backstage and meet everyone and see the costumes and dressing rooms etc and to me it was absolutely facinating for some reason so i set my sights on the role of 'eponine'

then i got my hands on the recording of rent... i loved the music so much i researched the play on the internet, bought the book and eventually ended up seeing it live... everyone looked like they were having so much fun and i love how close-knit the cast memebers are so i hope to someday play mimi

My 8th grade music class. The teacher was (and still is) a POTO freak. She helped turn me into one. She had a POTO segment where she cast everyone and we read through the script and listened to the cast recording. She cast me as Christine. I fell in love with Michael Crawford's voice and went to see the show that spring. Then I kind of changed my mind for a while, then I saw Cabaret and it all came back to me. But it wasnt until I saw Idina in Wicked that I really knew that I wanted to do that forever.

I started performing before I saw a show...kinda did it as a hobby because I loved dancing and my dance studio was connected to a pro theater in my area owner-wise, and I kinda went from one thing to the next. The first show I saw was the Grease tour in I think 1994, and I don't remember much of it. Then I saw Grease on Broadway in September 1996 (my first Broadway show) and I was excited out of my mind. My 11-year-old journal reads...

"I am definately going to be a Broadway actress when I'm older. A lot of people say so. If only my mom will take me to an audition, then I'd be all set for the stage. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, here I come!"

So I guess seeing Grease on Broadway made me want to be on Broadway my future...although I'm still confused by my Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen comment. Either I wanted to follow them in their successful child actor -slash- young billionaire habits...or eating disorder, here I come! Sorry, THAT was bad taste.
