the secret of MARTIN GUERRE's Logo#0

Posted: 3/2/06 at 3:57pm

There was a post here lately that said that someone just realised the meaning of MISS SAIGON's logo...
it was weird to me- since i knew all the "hidden" elements from before...

but i thought i might share the "hidden" elements of the 1999 martin guerre logo, which for me took a long while to find out...

ever wondered what' sthat firey-thingy in the middle? the R of "Martin" is formed from this fire-thingy (sorta like a sword perhaps), right? ... well, this long fire thing is actually the shape of the margin between two male faces... (rather like those pictures of wine-glasses formed between two opposite faces)...

(i hope it wasn't obvious to all of you and i turned out a jerk)

it's very visible inside the CD booklet in the CAST LISTING page- where there's no writing to mess things up...

that's funny. when I bought the CD the first thing I noticed was the faces... but I always thought they were of a male and female about to kiss. I suppose it could also be Martin and Arnaud since there's no distinguishing female features on either of the faces...

actually, i think both faces are pretty masculine...

even before i new the "meaning" of this logo i like it better that the original 1996 production logo... it's cleaner and neater. no crayon-look. though the 1996 logo also grew on me...

more like schonberg & boublil & mackintosh musical to me.

No, I have never found that out until you point it out.

Cool.

Both faces look very similar. it's probabaly based on the idea that Martin was really two people in the show; there was the real Martin and then Arnaund, who the villagers thought was Martin.

You do know that fire/sword thing is also supposed to be part of a cross? We kind of discussed all this on the Miss Saigon thread... re: the secret of MARTIN GUERRE's Logo

Yeah, I always saw the fire as the shape of a cross too.
