#0theatremonkey.com - is there a NYC equivalent?
Posted: 4/4/06 at 3:54pmDoes anyone know if there is a NYC equivalent website to http://www.theatremonkey.com ? The latter is a terrific site for evaluating theater seats for shows in London - they have color-coded seating charts and recommendations as to the best places to sit for your money. I haven't been able to find a similar site for New York theaters - does anybody know of one?

There used to be seating charts on the now defunct Theatre.com that would give you a precise view of the stage from any seats you would enter for any Broadway theatre. Not sure if anyone grabbed that technology from them after they went under.
Otherwise, all that I think is out there (though I may be wrong) are just standard seating charts. Nytheatre.com has some the most complete and easiest to read http://www.nytheatre.com/nytheatre/bwaythea.htm
Click on the theatre you want and then scroll down.

Margo, thanks for the response - I do wish someone else had grabbed that technology from theatre.com, as it sounds great. I like the nytheatre.com seating charts, and I generally look at those in conjunction with those on playbill.com. What I miss are the editorial comments, and discussion of value for money, such as can be found on theatremonkey.com.
And yes, BSo, that would be an awesome new BWW feature! As a bonus for BWW, it could eliminate the "how are these seats?" threads, which I myself have been guilty of starting but recognize that they can be tiresome.
[As a random aside, there is also a website for choosing airline seats that has similar commentary and color-coding: http://www.seatguru.com .]
