Depending on who they get to play Sarah Brown and Miss Adelaide in GUYS & DOLLS the producers may petition Sarah Brown to be considered a featured role, after all, Isabel Bingley won the Tony in that category during the original run.
Sarah Brown is a lead role in Guys and Dolls, though; Isabel Bigley was only considered featured because of the stricter billing rules back then, wasn’t she? Both Ernestine Jackson and Josie de Guzman were nominated in the lead category for the revivals.

i highly doubt Jackie Hoffman will be nominated by herself. As ray said their roles really are dependable on each other. Plus Mary Testa has more material. I am worried A catered affair will not live up to expectations.
Well, Jan Maxwell is out of the running for CRY BABY. Her replacement may be a strong competition though.
I highly doubt Mullally will be considered featured, producers will be pushing her as leading with Foster and Martin as featured.
Scott definitely is overdue for a Tony but then again so is Mary Testa--though I doubt XANADU is the show that will earn her the award.
So far it looks like a very strong season for featured roles on Broadway, without a doubt many performances worthy of the nod are going to be left out because there's no room for everyone. Better than the years some people get filler nominations.
<< I have a feeling Xanadu will be completely snubbed. So many more musicals tcould be hits and bigger hits. Plus with the way Xanadu is doing in grosses it will be lucky to be open then.
By the way if anyone s a Fanadu Jackie Hoffman is on Conan tonight.
>>
The way they are doing in grosses? They are doing extremely well right now. Midweek shows are selling out. I believe they were at 87-90% attendance last week, and that number might be higher this week (from what I have seen at the theatre)
And that is WITH a ticket price increase, (given the fact that there are no longer any $61 rear mezz seats), no more "Rush" tickets, and not many discounts out there either.

Not sure if I agree about Mary having more material- Even if she does, Jackie has the funnier lines, and is a big part of the Mt. Olympus scene, which people remember, because it closes the show.

Isn't Jan Maxwells replacement Harriet Harris? My guess is she would get a nod.
I think Sherie Rene Scott is a lock.*

Yes, Harriet Harris is Maxwell's replacement.
I doubt there is a lock at this point. Don't forget that YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN may be this year's producers which gives Foster a bit of an edge. I hope it's Scott's year though.

Will the Tony Voters allow it to become The Producers?
This year is stronger than the year The Producers swept the awards.

I was going to say the only real competition the year of The Producers was The Full Monty. This year the competition and the season is much much much stronger.

I know Dana Ivey was nominated for Sunday but is Yvonne really a standout? I didn't think that when i saw the taped version. The only people who are real standouts are Georges/George and Dot/Marie.
I'll second whoever said Karen Olivo for IN THE HEIGHTS. She was phenomenal.
(Also, IN THE HEIGHTS' Robin de Jesus for Featured Actor!)
I wonder, if maybe, just maybe, because Hoffman and Testa's roles are so similar and co-dependent (a la Ripley and Skinner in Sideshow) the producers might push for a joint nomination for them. It's a strong possibility, in my estimation. It'll be interesting to see if they do it.

Actually esparza333 my friends who have seen Young Frankenstein say Megan is a slightly larger role than Sutton, so I don't think it's just because she's a t.v. star.....I'm still putting my money on Sherie no matter what!
Testa and Hoffman are really great in XANADU, but I just dont see either one of them getting a nomination this year. I dont know- theres just something about their roles that just doesnt scream "Tony nomination". Then again, Mrs. Banks in MARY POPPINS didnt either. Really though, I actually dont see nominations for any of the XANADU performers. I think the best chance for a nomination from XANADU would be Kerry for Leading, and even then, she doesn't have a huge chance.
But I think Sherie has a good chance at at least a nomination- but it depends on how well recieved THE LITTLE MERMAID is or not and her competition that will determine if she wins or not.

It'd be nice if Jackie & Mary had a joint nomination because it's hard to credit one without acknowledging the other.
My 4 locks:
1. Sutton Foster, Young Frankenstein
2. Andrea Martin, Young Frankenstein
3. Faith Prince, A Catered Affair
4. Sherie Rene Scott, The Little Mermaid
Possibles:
- Jackie Hoffman or Mary Testa, Xanadu
- Jenny Powers, Grease
- Lauren Kennedy or Ramona Keller, Lone Star Love
- whoever is playing Yvonne, Sunday in the Park with George
- Andrea Burns, Karen Olivo, or Priscilla Lopez, In the Heights
For "A Catered Affair," Faith Prince will go in Lead Actress. Leslie Krizter will go in Featured
scooter38432, I agree about Robin De Jesus! He is a riot in IN THE HEIGHTS! I cannot wait to see this show on Broadway!
Sutton Foster Young Frankenstein
Andrea Martin Young Frankenstein
Sherie Rene Scott Little Mermaid
Leslie Kritzer A Catered Affair
Jenny Powers Grease
My Guess- I figure they might do what they did with the Producers and nominate the entire cast of Young Frankenstein
A featured performer in SUNDAY, CRY-BABY, or SOUTH PACIFIC would get a nomination over Powers for GREASE.
Expect GREASE to get zilch.
