I know it is way too early but lets judge based on their past work and performances.
Our choices so far are
Megan Mulally Young Frankenstein
Andrea Martin Young Frankenstein
Sherie Rene Scott Little Mermaid
Mary Testa Xanadu
Jackie Hoffman Xanadu
Lauren Kennedy Lone Star Love
Leslie Kritzer A Catered Affair
Jenny Powers Grease
Olga Merediz In The Heights
Who do you think are contenders and remind me if I'm leaving anyone out.

Whoever plays Yvonne in SUNDAY will be a possibility, considering what a great role it is.

So will the person who plays Madame Defarge in A Tale Of Two Cities. They wrote a phenomenal song for her.
And don't forget whoever plays Bloody Mary in South Pacific.
Though Megan Mullally's role in "Young Frankenstein" looks to be a featured one, there's no doubt in my mind that Brooks and co. are going to push her in the Lead Actress category (primarily because of her nane recognition.)
Foster and Martin will go in Featured.
Priscilla Lopez, IN THE HEIGHTS
Karen Olivo, IN THE HEIGHTS
Faith Prince, A CATERED AFFAIR (I think Kritzer will be Leading)

Sutton Fosters role in young Frankenstein is more central than megan mulally. It might not be leading but maybe it will be simlar what happened with sutton in chaperone and debra monk in curtains. Neither of these roles were really lead it's just that they were many people who were in the featured actress catergory that would not have got nominations. Plus both Ziemba and Leavel roles were more feautured than Suttons and Debras. This goes for the same with Sutton Foster and Megan Mulally
Go watch the commercial they're running for the show. It's being billed as, "...starring Roger Bart and Megan Mullally."
They're going to demote Sutton to Featured and promote Mullally to Lead, regardless of how close in size their roles are.
Whoever plays Anita in West Side Story.
Andrea Martin is amazing in YF. My vote would go to her.
As bad as this is, I am saying right now that Sherie Rene Scott will win.
I dunno Mary Testa is probably the best bet right now.

I have a feeling Xanadu will be completely snubbed. So many more musicals tcould be hits and bigger hits. Plus with the way Xanadu is doing in grosses it will be lucky to be open then.
By the way if anyone s a Fanadu Jackie Hoffman is on Conan tonight.
XANADU will not be snubbed. At this point, I believe Douglas Carter Beane to be a strong contender for Best Book.

You might believe Douglas Carter Beane is a strong contender but as of now Xanadu is the first musical of the season. There are going to be much more musicals this season and with writers like Mel Brooks and Harvey Fierstein there is a big chance Xanadu won't be as good as the many new musicals.
WEST SIDE STORY is not opening this season.
Mary Testa and Jackie Hoffman may splits votes and not even
garner a nomination. From what I understand their roles are very much dependent on each other so voters may be at a doubt as to who they should give their vote to. Testa is a Broadway darling though so she may get the nod over Hoffman or they might both even get nominated with a strong campaign.
However, if a show is going to get two Featured Actress nods I assume it's going to be YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN (Andrea Martin and Sutton Foster) if the show indeed opens with the same momentum that THE PRODUCERS did, otherwise Foster may end up with the nomination alone and perhaps garner a win.
Sherie Rene Scott is overdue for a Tony and if Disney is giving her strong material then she may be a strong competitor, I doubt she will get snubbed come nomination time as she did when AIDA opened.
If I'm not wrong, Jan Maxwell will be having a featured role in CRY BABY so expect her to be nominated, she's very much admired and respected in the theatre community due to her great performances. She's a brilliant character actress.
Depending on who they get to play Sarah Brown and Miss Adelaide in GUYS & DOLLS the producers may petition Sarah Brown to be considered a featured role, after all, Isabel Bingley won the Tony in that category during the original run.
There's Yvonne and Georges' Mother in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, Melba and Gladys in PAL JOEY (if it opens this season), Bloody Mary in SOUTH PACIFIC, and Fraulein Schneider and Kraust if CABARET opens this season.
Kritzer will most likely be featured and Prince--a Tony-winning actress playing a role previously played by Bette Davis on film--will be leading in A CATERED AFFAIR.

The cast for Cry Baby hasn't even been announced. You don't even no if Maxwell will be in it. Anyway the only reason they are saying starring Megan Mulally is to draw in a crowd frm T.V. Will and Grace fans will come pouring in. Not alot of people outside theatre no about Sutton Foster so it wouldn't help sell their show to well. Also Sherie is being given some excellent comic relief and they have changed the key for Poor Unfortunate Souls and made it a powerhouse song. I think she is a huge contender for the prize. I also can't wait for the cast of A Tale of Two Cities to be announced because if they get a powerhouse like one of the Elphabas to play Madame Defarge that actress written all over her.
As Ray pointed out, Scott is long overdue for a nod and should have received one for Aida. She'd have to be really terrible or the show itself would have to be a disaster for her to be overlooked yet again.

Because people who watch 'Desperate Housewives' and 'Will & Grace' will know who they are. They're aiming to draw in audiences who wouldn't necessarily be unfriendly to theatre but don't really go as a general rule, at a guess. :P

I also think Jenny Powers is a contender after all the role of Rizzo is such a challenging role. If she can belt like Stockhard Channing she has herself a nomination

Don't forget. Sherie's not long overdue for a nod. She was nominated a couple years ago for Leading Actress in a Musical for DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS. She is overdue for a win though.

Rizzo is even more challenging with the crap Kathleen has them doing...
ANyone realize how good a season we are looking forward to? I mean seriously! A Sondheim revival, Mel Brooks, Harvey, Disney, all in the same year! It's gunna be war!
Yes Foster, I wasn't clear, she's overdue for a win but with the committee being as they are, she's not even guaranteed a nod.
With the Nominating Committee having given a Featured Actress nomination to Rebecca Luker this past season for what is a heck of a lot less showy a character than Ursula (I'm assuming) is going to be, I cannot imagine them ignoring another veteran in the latest Disney show this season.
Megan Mulally Young Frankenstein
Sherie Rene Scott Little Mermaid
Jackie Hoffman Xanadu
Lauren Kennedy Lone Star Love
Leslie Kritzer A Catered Affair
These are my predictions, with Sherie winning.
