I agree. Mary Testa would really be amazing! Wow- thinking about it...she could be really great! I say cast her! Of course, she'd bring something different to Mama Rose, but that's the beauty of theater. The diversity and choices everyone makes in different roles.

I don't think Christine Ebersole would be a good Rose at all. And Kristin would be a better June than Louise. I would like o see Ebesole in another musical. She needs to lay off the plays for a while.

she was who i was hoping for, then i thought of liza minnelli, because of the "showbiz" and intensity she could bring, then they thought of bernadette!!! She's totally wrong for the part.

I also agree with Judy Kaye, unfortunately, she's not enough of a name next to ethel merman, angela lansbury, bernie, patti and so on...

People would definitely go see Liza in it, even if they don't like the way she sings. But if they thought bernadette missed too many performances, well...... LOL

I saw Karen do Mamma Rose in Sundance, Utah and she blew everyone away in the audience. Her "Rose's Turn" was a tour de force. I hope she gets to do this again where more people can see what the role of Rose should be. Maryann

as much as i adore megan, i don't think she'd be strong enough for rose but, however she'd be incredible for Mazepa. I can't picture Karen Mason as Mama Rose even though she played the part. Somehow I see her as well with the trumpet.
