hey! I'm in barcelona, but I saw We will rock you in the opening night in london and after, in madrid.
if you like queen, you will love the songs, but the show it's a little bit "empty"... it's a great spectacular concert of queen.

no, there is a plot, but to me it's a little bit boring...
taken from a newsgroup:
The time is the future, in a place that was once called Earth. Globalisation is complete. Everywhere, the kids watch the same movies, wear the same fashions and think the same thoughts. It's a safe, happy, Ga Ga World. On Planet Mall Rock 'n' Roll has been banned for centuries. All musical instruments have been banned. Legend persists that somewhere on Planet Mall, instruments still exist. Somewhere, the mighty axe of a great and hairy guitar god lies buried deep in rock. The Bohemians need a hero to find this axe. But the Bohemians must find this hero before the Company does. For if the Ga Ga Cops get him first they will surely drag him before the Killer Queen and consign him to oblivion across the Seven Seas of Rhye. Where is this axe hero? Where is the Hairy One's lost axe? Where is the place of living rock?

Posted: 8/29/04 at 6:46pmI could certainly sit through it again before going to Mamma Mia again. You certainly had to leave your brain at the door, but once inside, and about 20 mins in after some crummy exposition, I couldn't help but smile by the time it was over. And the music sounded great.

Posted: 8/29/04 at 6:49pmI saw it in London and loved it. You have to take it for what it is. This isn't Sondheim. It's a Ben Elton show.

Ben elton has done many good things, but not this one.
You only recognize the ben elton hand in just a few of the dialogs...

Posted: 8/30/04 at 9:41amAwful script (but that's the case with any biog musical. Look at Mamma Mia et al). Songs are very well arranged though and the cast was great. Mindless fun!

Posted: 8/30/04 at 12:02pmI'm really looking forward to seeing it in Las Vegas starring Jason Wooten and Tony Vincent. They rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This looks really bad (unlike Phantom2, who looks really good
). But if you west-coasters are still set on seeing it, you don't have to go all the way to Las Vegas. There will be a production in Toronto this season.

Posted: 8/31/04 at 3:02pmI went to London two years ago and saw it and I HATED it. The story was so stupid. They were getting arrested for listening to music and it was all like futuristic and stuff. I fell asleep. The crowd loved it though. I guess I don't have the same taste as London people. It got a standing ovation. I also saw Mamma Mia there and I liked it but fell asleep because of jetlag. Now I want to see it again to remember it better.

YEah, the book completely sucks. They are looking for MUSIC, and they find a guitar in a rock. Yeah- it's kinda of another TOMMY.
The story makes no sense- but the music is wonderful!

Posted: 9/11/04 at 12:36pmhaha well spoken. I loved it too, my hands were bruised by the end from clapping... I guess everyone is entitled to their opinions though...

Posted: 9/11/04 at 12:42pmI also saw it in London about a year or so ago. It was without a doubt one of the worst shows I've ever seen. I thought Tony Vincent was horrible! BUT, if you like shows like Mamma Mia (I didn't like this one either) or Tonight's the Night (even worse than WWRY, in my opinion) or Movin' Out, etc. you may enjoy this one.
#21re: we will rock you
Posted: 9/11/04 at 1:18pmMovin' Out is entirely different. It is a ballet set to live music. No dialogue. The characters don't sing or speak. It's not really in the same category as the others.

I see there are two threads going on about WWRY. The show in Las Vegas rocks I liked it. I have a review about it.
It is sad that peopel are bashing a show that has only been open for three performances. They atarted before opening night and that was invited only. See the show, do not compare it to the London version. It is shorter and with sucha a talented cast the show is great. We had people of all ages at the opening and they got into the show just as much as the younger people see my posts on the other thread.
