So I really didn't want to threadjack the thread about overweight characters...

but I'm in CATS right now.. I had a post about losing weight for it a month or two ago, and got some great feedback...

I was 5 foot 11 to 6 feet tall... (the measurements vary...) and was 175 pounds... I am now, since dieting, and two months of aerobic rehearsal... 166 pounds.. however... I'm still 6 pounds above what they wanted me to be for the show.

Does anyone know what the weight "norms" are for Equity and other professional theatre shows? or what they were for CATS when it was running?

I mean I'm a relatively lean kid with wide shoulders. My measurements are 36-between 29 and 30-38... and people have told me they're worried about me since I look a lot thinner... but would I weigh to much to audition for an equity show?

that's a really big mic...

"but would I weigh to much to audition for an equity show?"

That depends on the show, character, and other circumstances. There is no "one-size-fits-all" for roles.

Do they weigh you at rehearsal? It would seem that at your height and current weight, your body fat percentage would be awfully low as it is.

well... I know it's character specific...

but just as the "norm" for equity actors... for like ensemble dancers...

and no, they don't weigh us at rehearsal, they just want us to be around there... because of the spandex...

that's a really big mic...
