Ooh, I second the Big River DVD. Seriously - that would've been the best show put record for PBS ever. Somebody dropped the ball on that one.

These are the ones that pop out at first thought:
Carrie

It'd be MUCH longer if we could include replacement cast members and National Tours of musicals that already have recordings.

Big River revival DVD? Yeah, that would've been better than a CD, because it's not the same without the signing.

You know, I think someone, if not one of us, should set up a web site like tvshowsondvd.com where the premise is you vote for unrecorded shows to be recorded. What do you think of that?
Some of these are "dream issues," since they' were never properly recorded to begin with...
Smile
Dreamgirls (full recording of OBC)
Phantom of the Opera (OBC) -- because I want to hear the Tony-wining Judy Kaye sing Carlotta among other things
Ragtime (U.S. Premiere Cast, because it was better than the OBC)
Wicked - full recording of OBC
The Wiz - full recording of OBC
Oh, I'm sure I can think of more...

Full recording of Seussical because there are a number of songs missing on the current soundtrack.

I want to add IML as well. So curious!
jasobres - I wish for a website like that, too. I wish stuff could be recorded (LEGALLY!!!) and put on a website to be downloaded for a certain amount of money per song. It could include OBCR's, benefits, noteworthy concerts, tours, replacement performers, etc. I would imagine a lot of the cost issues with cast recordings come from mass production, and this could eliminate a lot of that.
But of course, they never listen to me. Heck, I wish stuff on TV, like the "Leading Men" concert would be shown outside of NYC, but do they even give me that? Of course not.
No, I'm not bitter. Not at all.

I would like them to release a Chicago cast recording of Wicked. I saw the show there prefer that cast to the Broadway cast. I would also like a complete recording of the current revival of Sweeney Todd. Hmm...other things? Caroline or Change on DVD. I also can't wait for the See What I Wanna See recording to come out.

Even though I'd love love love love love a recording of the La Cage revival, things don't look to good. Didn't Daniel Davis quit or something because, you know what I'll stop before I say something stupid so can someone fill me in?
Dance of the Vampires
Dracula
Lennon
Cabaret (revival w/Susan Egan)
Phantom of the Opera (Broadway)

DOONESBURY. It wasn't a great show, but I have good memories of it. Would like to see it on CD.

As much as I love more well put-together shows, "Lennon" was my guilty pleasure this season, not so much because it's a great show but because the performances were amazing. No matter what you say about the show itself, I really find it difficult to think someone could have that horrible an experience listening to those 9 performers who were just spectacular and the great music. I was really hoping for a recording of that show, and it was one of my major disappointments this season.
I can't wait for "Dessa Rose," and, having seen "See What I Wanna See" and stumbling across information about "The Highest Yellow" and comparisons between it and "Sunday in the Park with George," I really wish there were a cast recording of that.
Dreamgirls
Chenoweth in The Apple Tree
In general I wish that more shows did like recordings, or maybe had 2 recordings: 1 studio, 1 live. I find listening to live clips so much more exciting. A good example is Brooklyn. If you compare the studio tracks to the live recordings, there is no comparison. Another example is my live recording of Jennifer Holliday's "And I Am Telling You" which I treasure above everything. I feel like live recordings allow singers to stray from the music as it is written a little more and put their own spin into it, not to mention its just far more emotional because they're in the middle of a show so they are acting it out in a way that's probably hard to recreate in a studio.
As they say in the one of the shows of my choice, "The Happy Time" (yes it was recorded, but not fully, actually only for 30 minutes)
"He's backhe's back..."
Besides a better recording of "Happy Time", I'd love to see a better recording of "A Conneticut Yankee" and a recording of the recent "La Cage" revival.
Adding DOTV, the Secret Garden benefit, and In My life to my list.
