"So many on here hate the show who havent seen it. If they love theatre why not wait and see the show."
Wow...how quickly the attitude around here changes. I remember saying the very same thing about The Pirate Queen. I'm not making this comment to start another fight about that show (some of us liked it, but it's closed, so let it rest in peace); just wanted to point out that this attitude of hating without seeing (in some cases, without ever seeing the show) is nothing new. Remains to be seen who's right about YF, but I just find this whole thing interesting.

Posted: 11/10/07 at 12:02pmI think that lightning never strikes twice evenly. It gets higher or lower. Example: Lion King did better than Beauty and the Beast, which was higher than Tarzan(these are dependent on reviews and box office). That's why Mel probably did not want to post the grosses for YF. Becasue he had gotten only OK reviews in Seattle, compared to The Producers in Chicago.I think that's why. And also the bad reviews here didn't help. He probably did not want the public to know that this is not doing as well. Just in my opinion.

Posted: 11/10/07 at 4:20pmI think that's a very sound reasoning for him not to publish grosses. He has a very high priced show to promote and any negativity affects business. As we all know money doesn't guarantee success (ask the Yankees). But Brooks is banking on his true fan base to bail him out and my guess is that they will oblige.
