I always felt that some fans went a little overboard with the gifts. Almost as if they were saying "Here's this, so you can remember me next time you see me."

So I am guessing that the Prada, condoms, Corn and Crab bisque and life-size action figure replica of myself that I sent to Sarah Jessica Parker were totally out of line.

Priest, not at all. Just typical gifts from an adoring fan, of course.

i feel it's expressing their gratitude for a performer..to show how much they feel there performance meant to them. I truly believe performers enjoy getting gifts, it's a nice gesture as well. I see nothing wrong w/it.

As a rule, while performers are grateful for the thought, they typically won't REALLY eat something brought to them by a fan.

Unless of course they know this person and they're a fan/friend.

I'm sure some performers appreciate fan gifts, but when you have someone who is obsessed over like Idina, you can bet that at some point it starts to mean less and less. How many pieces of fan memorabilia can you really keep in a small dressing room? How much of it do you want in your apartment?

I think it's more about wanting a reaction from the performer than anything else. You don't have to give them something to sincerely appreciate their performance. They'll be just as happy with your words at the stage door, or perhaps a note.

For her last show of Little Shop, I got Kerry Butler a small bunch of flowers (That's when I met Craig, yay!). They were cute and colorful, nothing overdone. I had met her a few times before, so it wasn't like I just bought her something to buy her something. Anyway! I gave them to her before the show, and when we were leaving my mom said she saw the flowers in a bag Kerry was carrying. That's the ONLY time I've ever given something to aperformer.

Some friends of mine and I used to get together and order a bottle of champagne to be delivered to a favorite star on opening night. You used to be able to get this from BC/EFA. They would include a card and deliver it themselves to the stage door. Unfortunately, those days are gone. I don't think there was anything spooky in getting a sealed bottle of champagned delivered by BC/EFA.
