But this show has a score by Holland-Dozier-Holland!
Holland-Dozier-Holland!
P
P.S. Yes, they wrote a lot of hit songs. 40 years ago.
P.P.S. The fact that Carmello hasn't brought HURRICANE AMY to Broadway and shown everyone how it is REALLY done is a daily head-scratcher. Kathie Lee, the composer (don't laugh - the score is better than anything this season) talks about the show all the time on tv, at least, and Carmello just performed a song on Kathie Lee and David Friedman's EVERYONE HAS A STORY cd (as did Norm Lewis, Cheyenne Jackson, Liz Callaway, Julia Murney, etc.). And shoot me, but having seen Kathie Lee in PUTTING IT TOGETHER (Sondheim personally chose her, remember) I think SHE would be a fierce Elise... and she began her career singing those same oldies on NAME THAT TUNE so she has an affinity for the material. Her "Like It Was" from MERRILY is still the best I've ever seen that number done (YT-Rosie show).
