re: will DRACULA last till March?

I'm betting the slump in ticket sales for the harsh winter months will force it to close before then.

I am seeing it tomorrow. It just came out. Ticket sales do slump in January, February but it is easier to get tickets then. I go during those months.

No...however, if there was hope for Wonderful Town lasting this long, who knows?

God, I hope so. I really hope it doesn't pull a Little Shop and gets cancelled when the ticket sales start getting good.

Dracula:
A very sad tale. The cast are all talented performers.
They have the best of the best. Serino, The best press agents but the show is very bad.
It is very sad because there is so much talent.
VERY SAD.
Tom Hewitt is such a talent so is Errico. But the score is terrible so the very talented cast can not save the show.
I wish they took the very talented cast and put them into a great show.
PS Wonderful Town is a fantastic score and the original cast were exceptional. Why they let go of Donna Murphy makes me upset.
She was perfection in the role. I have not seen Brooke Shields so I can't comment on her performance but the show is very good.
At least the three times I saw it.
Gregg Edelman and Donna stole the show. I was also very impressed with the original Eilleen.

If it doesn't last til then, pass over this side of The Pond. It can join the growing list of gothic musicals hitting the West End & we'll take REALLY good care of it!

To Corine 2

Disagree on Dracula. Mr & Mrs R enjoyed it. It appears there is no middle ground you either hate it or love it. Many shows critics loved in the past we hated such as:

1. Copenhagen - Walked out at intermission
2. Stones In My Pocket - Gave up after 20 minutes
3. Rent - saw whole thing & hated it

As far as Wonderful Town, do not think she was let go. She going to Hollywood to do a series or a pilot. Her excessive absences made her a liability . Even when she was in it, she was not a big box office draw. Believe Murphy may have a hard time landing in another show if her Hollywood gig goes nowhere. Why invest in a show when the star is unreliable

Roxy-
I did not hate Dracula. I did not like the score. The performers were all strong. But the book and score was silly and dull.
I did not hate it. I did however find it dull.
For me to find anything dull with Tom Hewitt is hard to believe.
I loved Tom in Rocky Horror and in a show at the Roundabout last year.
So, just to clarify. I did not hate the show but I did not like it.
The cast are talented, but the music was not memorable or even interesting.
The only show I hated this year was PRYMATE and Jackie Mason's Musical.

corine,
for someone who doesn't hate the show, you've certainly trashed it in a good dozen posts that I have read....and even in threads that have nothing to do with Dracula...

Hard to say.

The show costs are pretty set now as the Belasco is a small venue so site rental is not too bad. Christmas season will be strong and I predict Dracula will do well this month also due to Halloween connection (Dracula, darkness, et als).

I predict the show will definitely run until the end of the year and if the next few months are as good as I think they will be, I think they will hang on a bit longer to see if the show develops a following.

I have seen it and while it is not Wildhorn's best work, it is not nearly as bad as folks have labeled it. Many who trash it have not seen it but are following the lead of the critics who are never going to like a mainstream piece like this.

Hard to say.

I like the whole gothic horror thing. I felt it moved quickly, the set designs were very clever. My friend felt the music was not great but I was concentrating more on the acting and Tom (sigh) Hewitt. I liked it and would see it again. I hope it lasts for a while.
