English cast of "Starting Here, Starting Now". Take a listen, it's VERY hard to sit through. A shame the songs are all so good.
Just my opinion, I may be wrong.

I was the Management Assistant on that show and if anyone else said anything bad about it, I'd probably have to go kick their ass. However, Ms. Daly cannot sing. It was okay if you were watching her onstage as her acting overcame it, but on the recording, it's...awful.

Posted: 8/18/04 at 12:26pmI have to agree with the Applause OCR. I love Lauren Bacall, but her songs are awful, even supporting characters are not strong singers. It's been awhile since I've listened to it, so I hope that my memory is serving me correctly. She was the same with Woman of the Year. Can't sing... she croaks through all the songs, like Katharine Hepburn in Coco. Although Katharine knew she couldn't sing. She said it was like playing tennis with no strings on the racket.

But Follies (ORIGINALLL) sucks as well.

Posted: 8/18/04 at 12:30pmNot to sound totally redundant, but Wicked's ensemble/chorus is laughable. If you just listen to their voices, you'll understand why. I think that they blend horribly.

I love Wicked but I agree LadyGuenevere about the bad blending job.
I also hated the Mamma Mia OCR but my parents loved it. *shrugs*
Another one I didn't like was "Song and Dance". Bernadette sounded terrible. Was she sick when she recorded it?

Posted: 8/18/04 at 12:51pmMadeofGold, there was a thread awhile back discussing Unexpected Song (one of my favorite songs) from Song and Dance and why the producers of the OBC recording wouldn't have had Bernadette do a retake (she does sound pretty bad on that song). MargoChanning made the excellent point that Bernadette was singing non-stop for an hour 8 times a week, she probably recorded this inbetween, and she was likely just worn out. I like Song and Dance, btw, despite it's flaws and it's one of my guilty pleasures that I get it out and give it a listen once in awhile.
