When you freak out because your favorite actor is in a show and you're seeing that show in 6 DAYS!!!
Sorry I'm excited for Frakenstein.

When you create an Excel spreadsheet outlining where each show is playing and at what times, what the length of the show is, how long it would take to get from one theatre to another, and what all of the codes are for online discounts so that you might...just might...squeeze in eight shows instead of seven in the five days you'll be in New York, in a scenario that precludes eating dinner most of the time you are there.

maninchair, I actually like that idea!
I keep an Excel spreadsheet of the time, date, show title, and ticket price of every performance I have ever attended. I also retain all of my ticket stubs.
I have another: when you consider going to see a show just so you can cross that theatre off of your "theatres I have yet to see a show in" list.

When you leave husband and child at home . . . do not invite any friends . . . take self to NYC for three nights, and see six shows because you want to see what you want to see when you want to see it and don't want to have to answer to anyone or explain anything
When you return, all you can do is brag how you saw the Tony winning revival of play and musical, tony winning featured actor in a musical, multiple tony wining musical, tony winning actress and featured actress in a musical . . . and people just say, "That's nice! Why didn't you take me?"

you'll wait in the moshpit at nerlander during Adam & Anthony's run just so u can catch a glimpse of them
on the way to somewhere u share an i-pod with someone, put on a show they have never heard of & analyze like the whole thing for them till you're pleased with what you said (happen to me today with spring awakening & this girl who had never heard of it on the way to a school trip)

-When you sit in your seat and cross your fingers and pray to GOD that you don't open your playbill and find "that little slip of white paper"
-When you know what "that little slip of white paper" is
-When you wait in the freezing snow for 20-30 minutes just to catch a glimpse of Idina, Bernadette, Donna, Patti, Kristin, Kerry, Sherie, Sutton, Lea, Laura Bell, or any other Broadway diva.
-When you run to the ATM for a twenty dollar bill before the show to ensure that you'll have a souvenir program
-When you travel to New York City for six days and five nights to see five shows all by yourself and spend $800 in the process...Yes, I leave November 29th haha
-When the box you keep your playbills in is covered in a collage of Broadway show marquee photos
-When you spend $60 on Ebay for a playbill of the original cast of RENT...and you don't even like RENT that much
-When you plan your month around the premiere of a newly released movie musical starring actors you never thought could sing
-When you have Broadway show or Tony Award performance clips on your myspace

When you watch episodes of Law and Order solely to see the 30 second walk-on role of various actors.
When you've skipped meals in order to have money for shows.
When you fly in from another country in order to see a certain show.
When you cancel your dinner plans because you find out an understudy is going on in your favorite show.
When you call your friends every half hour for six hours to see if they were able to buy you anything at the Broadway Flea Market. And watch the live stream.
When you plan your class schedule around show times.
When one of your dearest wishes is for Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice to combine and have a musical episode.
When you take stacks of playbills from a closing show, and refuse to untie them. And no, you don't know what you're going to do with 75 playbills.
Broadwaytourist, I did the same thing in London! I saw 6 shows in three days, 5/6 by myself. lol.

DISAGREE! You're a broadway freak when you sit in your seat and cross your fingers and pray to god that you DO open your playbill and find "that little slip of white paper". Several, ideally.

Word.
Or- when you hear with enough warning that there will be a little slip of white paper at a show that night, and so you plan your lunch hour around a trip to the box office to buy a ticket.

AND the first time I saw Piazza.
