FOLLIES - The Intermission is Back
 Sep 1 2011, 11:04:08 PM
From Finishing The Hat:
Sondheim, on revisions and additional songs written for subsequent versions of FOLLIES, after the original production:

"Although none of the new songs was much of an improvement- "Country House" was too harsh a style for the score (it would have been better suited to Company), [the new] "Loveland" was unnecessary and "Make The Most of Your Music" was too elaborate and expensive to stage easily- "Ah But Underneath" has proven useful as a substitute for "The St

ENCORES ; MERRILY cast???

I wish we could see Celia Keenan-Bolger as Beth.

Also, Autumn Hurlbert for Evelyn Kringas!

Somethingwicked, Jim Walton was only 26 when he played Frank in the original production, not 33

Understudy fetishism?
 Aug 12 2011, 04:33:11 PM
This is a FASCINATING thread, and I've loved reading posters' intelligent opinions on the topic.

For me, it's simple. Some of the time, I happen to be a much larger admirer of the work of someone who happens to be cast as the understudy, than I am of the person who happens to be cast in the role.

I imagine that if I were sitting here having this conversation in 1970, I'd be hoping that Larry Kert got a chance to go on as Bobby in Company, because I'd be more interested in s

Mormon Standing Room
 May 31 2011, 01:55:08 PM
Who has done Mormon SRO recently for a Saturday or Sunday matinee and what was it like?

Going to go for the matinee either this Saturday (4th) or Sunday (5th) and am wondering what a good time to get there would be...

Does ANGELS IN AMERICA have rush, student, or any other discounts?
 Jan 15 2011, 02:01:05 PM
There is a cancellation line where you pay the rate of the seat that is cancelled, or in some cases, get stair seats (which are less than $85, but more than $20 if I remember correctly)...
The cancellation line is essentially the rush, since the show is fully sold out.

Anybody have opinions on Gruesome Playground Injuries, A Small Fire, or the
 Jan 15 2011, 01:59:43 PM
I really enjoyed Gruesome Playground Injuries. I thought the story was compelling, and I was really invested in the characters because the out-of-chronology structure was so well done. Pablo Schrieber was excellent. I'd recommend it highly.

(And every single photo celebrates a true Broadway moment of the sort that were seriously lacking this past Sunday.)

I think that the facebook group and its point are being misinterpreted by several posters on this thread.

The statement made by Hunter Foster, and agreed with by the members of the group, is that the MAIN FOCUS of the Tony Awards should be Broadway.

Hunter articulates that the Tonys need "no more rock bands playing more than one song". This is indicative of the whole idea of the group. It's not saying that there shouldn't be ANY mainstream culture at the Tonys- it's saying the

While Will Chase is out of town doing "Robin and the Seven Hoods", who is playing the role of Tony in "Billy Elliot"?

Is it David Larsen?

ENRON to close 5/9
 May 5 2010, 02:35:51 PM
Is Enron's Sunday performance at 3pm or 7:30pm? Or both?

Playbill and Ticketmaster say 3pm, but tdf has 7:30pm tickets. I really want to buy a tdf ticket to see the show, but can only do a matinee.... help! Can anyone clarify?
