re: the New TKTS moves at a snails pace
 Jun 1 2007, 11:56:20 AM
"The Duffy Square/TKTS booth renovation and construction project will begin in May. The aim is a new Duffy Square booth by early winter (late 2006)."

Excuse me but the target date was winter 2006 - 6 months AGO. It takes less time to build a skyscraper in Manhattan than it has to do reconstruction on TKTS and Duffy Square.

Diana DiMarzio told me at the stage door that weeney is performing a medley of "greatest hits" at the Tonys.

The Harvey Girls is a great movie musical and I love it because Angela and Judy are in it. According to Martin Gottfried's authorized biography of Angela titled "Balancing Act"Angela was twenty and had already been nominated for two Oscars for "Gaslight" and "The Picture of Dorian Gray", but she was under MGM contract and you didn't get your choice of movies that you made back then....however, she considered this role to have "the greatest impact" on her career. She thought it established her

From Anyone Can Whistle: A lady has responsibilites, and civic pride...I see a terrible depression all over the town, a terrible depression, and I'm so depressed I can hardly talk on the phone, I feel all alone, but a lady has responsibilities to all my poor, starving, cold, miserable, dirty, dreary, depressing peasants!

StageManager2 - Welcome to the Temple. One of my favorites is "And a girl has to celebrate what passes by" from ALNM, but there are so damn many it could take all the live long day.

I will weep buckets if it isn't recorded.

Indeed Christine gives one of the all time most brilliant performances EVER. She has so many layers; from the classic 1940ish sound to the hysterical with the character voice as Little Edie, then she just knocks you on your ass with "Around the World" and "Winter in a Summer Town". My God. I saw it for the second time last night after seeing it early in previews. I was hoping that they had fixed the first act a little more. It's almost as if it's two shows for the price of one. The first

It's a great cd but it is so, so very incomplete. There were just too many blockbusters that glorious day. I would pay big, big money for a complete recording. Ho hum.

Ah, I dream of Bernadette playing Desiree and Angela playing Madame Armfeldt. The problem is that Desiree is a small singing part, but still it would be perfection. I would love to see John Dossett or Greg Edelmann as Fredrick. Victoria Clark would be a very interesting Charlotte. Have any of you heard Angela's "Send in the Clowns" from the 1983 Sondheim Evening? Sondheim accompanies her on piano and it is almost as great as Glynis Johns' version which is simple and perfect. If you ever ge

I caught the matinee today - STUNNING. I have been anticipating this new musical for some time since I knew it would be an opportunity to hear Christine Ebersole sing on the stage again. It is a treat that Christine plays two roles - the mother Edith Bouvier Beale in Act 1 and her daughter Little Edie in Act 2. I knew she would be out of the world and I was right. She is damn funny but can grab you emotionally and has a gorgeous old-style voice. Overall it has a good cast. Although Sara Gettlef
