New WICKED Cast Replacements this month and next?
 Mar 7 2024, 04:28:08 PM

They dropped the glass bottle of green elixir in popular and it shattered everywhere.  Someone brought out a claw and picked up the larger pieces while they finished the scene but that was too much of a safety issue so they stopped the show between Popular and the classroom scene.

New cast overall is very good.  MK is a very special Elphaba - I cannot properly articulate why, there's just something incredibly heartfelt about every second she's onstage.  Gorgeous

There is currently only 1 actress of color covering the role across both North American companies. The show should be going out of its way of moving a black actress through the understudy-standby-lead pipeline. Similar to Brittney Johnson’s experience playing Glinda."

Laurel is down there as additional coverage as both Elphaba covers had some time off on the current stop so they always want to make sure they have two Elphaba covers in the building, i've heard it like an unofficial rule for the show lol?

Sorkin and Sher to revive CAMELOT for Broadway

I knew nothing about Camelot going in - I remember watching part of the movie when i was like 10 or 11 so I was familiar with a few of the musical motifs, as well as what happens with the love triangle.  I expected a visually stunning, well-produced bore that would showcase about 60% of the talents of its stars.

Seems like my opinion is unpopular but I absolutely adored it.  Again, I am not familiar with the original and perhaps that is a good thing.  I thought all three

Phantom Closing?

Christine’s performance of “Wishing you” was the highlight of the night, while the show still holds up, Ben Crawford as the Phantom was sadly awful. He came across as a limp wristed man child. His acting and singing choices were bizarre to say the least. The Final Liar from his e

This is quite the overstatement.  It's not gross or racist to express concern that a show that did a lot of publicity around having a diversity consultant come in and then hire a full-time lead as a POC.  If indeed Allie does join the cast, which is well-earned for her, let's hope that both her standby replacement and Talia's replacement are diverse actors.  It's no slight to Allie or her work to say the show is backsliding in it's commitment to diversit

I think that would be...interesting. Wicked did so well with diversity in their cast, well, taking a step forward with it, so to go back to someone who is not a POC would be disappointing.

Adore this show to the moon and back but fully expect them to backslide in this regard, at least initially

& JULIET teases Broadway transfer announcement?

For instance, I keep wishing they would cut “Since U Been Gone” and insert “U + Ur Hand” in that moment. It would give the chance for Juliet to lash out at Romeo instead of just playfully tease him.

Since U Been Gone is:

1. One of the best moments in the show.

2. One of the crown jewels of Max Martin's catal

The lawsuit of hers that was reported not long ago honestly gave me a better understanding of the situation and it really does seem as though she handled things appropriately. Do I wish she was vaccinated? Of course. But at the end of the day there are plenty of people

I got to see Emily's debut as Elphaba and at this point that was THREE years ago - I'm happy she's doing so well still and would love to see her again!

I was there last night!  I saw Brittney's debut as Glinda in January 2019 and saw her as a standby as well during Ginna Claire's vacation and loved her.  She is glorious both vocally and as an actress - I remember thinking while watching her debut as an understudy that her Glinda was already shockingly fully formed - she has had the comedy and emotional curve of Glinda's journey through the show down since the beginning.  As time goes on she will get even better and

Guessing no one has heard anything remotely official, but do we know if (presumably) Nettles will be starting on 10/19?  Or do we think it likely they will have a week in between Jennas where Steph Torns goes on like they have a few times in the past?

Best/Worst Celebrities that went onto Broadway
 Feb 1 2021, 02:32:47 PM

Best off the top of my head: Saoirse Ronan in THE CRUCIBLE, Sara Bareilles and Jordin Sparks in WAITRESS, Andrew Garfield in ANGELS IN AMERICA, Daniel Radcliffe in THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT.

Worst: David Cook and Tyler Glenn (I am a fan of him/his vocals Neon Trees) in KINKY BOOTS both stressed me out vocally, but Jake Shears is probably the worst male performer I have ever seen on a Broadway stage.  His performance was embarrassing.

Kristin Chenoweth in Wicked

I think it's all subjective obviously, and I never saw the original witches

I do think that there have been a number of standouts in early and recent days.

Carrie St. Louis completely altered the way I viewed the character of Glinda.  Brittney Johnson is also exquisite in the role.   I will second the Katie Rose Clarke praise. All of the aforementioned made distinctive choices both vocally and as actresses that have proven to be quite mem

What's the 1st show you're planning to see when the quarantine is over?
 Apr 16 2020, 02:40:33 PM

Despite being completely gutted at the potential loss of some non-staple/newer shows - I have selfishly never been happier that I have such 'basic' favorites.  If B'Way reopens on a Monday, it'll be Phantom, Wicked, and Cursed Child (if they make it) in that order.
