I saw him in London. He wasn't good. What a terrible way to end the run.

I also think it's crazy how the competitive dynamics of the Tonys change everything - if Audra was up against Stephanie Block (Cher Show), Adrienne Warren (Tina), Joaquina Kalkukano (Paradise Square), Victoria Clark (Kimberly Akimbo), Maleah Joe Moon (Hell's Kitchen) I think she likely would have won in basically all cases."
Victoria Clark gave one of the best performances in a musical I have ever seen and she would have won against a

I loved Ms Rondstadt as Mabel. I got to see her a couple times, once at the Delacorte and twice at the Uris (Now Gershwin). When I saw it at the park I was front , stage left and when she sang "Sorry Her Lot" she stared right into my eyes. I was captivated.
On a side note, I also saw Maureen McCormick when she took over as Mabel ... and she nailed the part. One of the best things I've seen.

Don't agree at all that there's an energy void there. But if Papp thought so and that's why he added "My Eyes are Fully Open" (I doubt it--I think he wanted to give an additional big numberto Smith and Ronstadt, thus interloping this and "Sorry her Lot" , I'm grateful. It's a wonderful addition."
Actually "My Eyes are Fully Open" is a trio between Frederick, Pirate King and Ruth - wedged in between
"When You Had Left Our Pirate Fold " and "Away Away".
I really enjoyed this show though it does not hold a candle to the Papp production, which I saw many times during its run at the Delacourt and then Broadway. What I dsliked most about the new production is once more they have taken a glorious soprano role and changed it to a generic belter "Poor Wandering One" should be show stopper, instead it's just there. It doesn't help that the actress who plays Mabel has no stage presence whatsoever.

I love Andrew Rannels but I wouldn't see the pair of them do "The Producers" and specifically I'd never see Josh Gad do it.

Since Arena Stage is announcing their season tomorrow, I guess "Pal Joey" will be there. That would be a major disappointment. I am a subscriber to Arena and I hated the revival at Encore. It was dreadful.

Sounds like 75 minutes…which I think would make it the shortest show currently on Broadway.
"I think "Oh Mary" is around that, depending on who is playing Mary. If I remember correctly, Ms Gilpin's performance ran almost 10 minutes shorter than when Cole did it.

I too am looking forward to hearing the thoughts of people seeing this. I saw it in Chicago and while I really wanted to love it, I did not. I thought the first part of the show was brilliant. But I seriously felt let down when basically the show turned into another version of "Enchanted" I also felt like Stephen DeRosa and Faith Prince, both of whom I love, were completely underutilized. Meanwhile I didn't like the daughter character or her music. If this was a movie at h
