Michael Riedel's unhinged post-Tonys column Sep 27
2021, 07:04:37 PM
I couldn’t see what was wrong with the article. I agreed with it all.
Broadway has always led the way in progress and awareness, as has theatre in general. Let’s not forget so much good achieved.
Could and should recent movements have been quicker to be more inclusive and diverse, of course. Have there been mistakes of misogyny, absolutely. Where there’s money, there’s tigers. It’ll always be the case. But our field has still always been way

CURSED CHILD to alter BW production May 8
2021, 07:49:40 PM
London is remaining 2 shows. There is talk NY will be the first production the show comes back as 1 show, over 3.5 hours. The show was struggling on Broadway to attract audiences to give up all day or two nights. This new production could then be replicated to other cities around the world and for tour, far easier than the 2 show model to tour.

West End CABARET with Jessie Buckley and Eddie Redmayne May 8
2021, 07:42:09 PM
It is a new version/director, it is not Jamie Lloyd.
The 2006 revival I enjoyed. The main nudity came as end of act 1, it was representing their full bodied selves dancing, contrasting by the end them naked, shivering and malnourished, echoing the sad horror of what was to come. It then hit the road in UK pretty much for ten years, it even came back to The Savoy Theatre for a run.
This new production is really exciting and we are long ove

Surely there should be a HAL PRINCE THEATRE Mar 25
2021, 08:27:54 PM
I get that, it’s a shame that has to be a thought because my intention to highlight this was purely about legacy and what he gave the industry so it’s remembered.I just think it would make sense and wouldn’t cause any issue, maybe I’m wrong...

Broadway with Social Distancing = 27% Capacity Feb 9
2021, 06:45:34 PM
27% doesn’t work for current in situ shows. However, if this is what it will be for a year or two then some act, show or producer will make something work..!

Cuomo Announces NY PopsUp; Discusses Broadway's Reopening Feb 8
2021, 06:59:35 PM
The current way Broadway shows are produced, until all tourism and free movement, by enlarge cannot come back but another financial model or way could.
it is a very accurate that we won’t see high tourism and huge freedoms or willingness of worldwide travel for another year or even two, but that doesn’t mean Broadway or theatre can’t return. The model will just have to change and adapt.
Perhaps $20m capital shows ba

London Phantom target June 5 reopening Dec 3
2020, 06:34:11 PM
We are lucky, lucky we have the producers and creatives willing to pretty much do it for not much profit bar minimal fees!
I think we will see a number of larger shows that were running prior to pandemic and essentially waiting to come back in full, announce their firm plans to reopen between April and July.
However, the other half of the battle to reopen, and be successful, is London back with tourists...

No involvement with Roundabout or RSC. It’s based on the 2011 Broadway revival but it will be a new production, produced by Trafalgar Entertainment.

Britain's West End Theatres Reopen in October Sep 13
2020, 05:33:18 PM
There is a ban on 6 people plus meeting collectively, therefore can only sell in quantities of no more than 6. Bubble burst seating tech will mean when people book the seats around will also go, meaning people stay within the guidelines and social distancing. It has been approved by council. It will mean most venues can only play at 35-50% capacity max.
UK positive tests are increasing and have imposed more stricter rules following this. Death rates remain very low. Thea

What planet are you from? There is no way that anything is opening in 2020. Dream if you want, but you will be in for a huge disappointment. I have already adjusted my expectations, and it has actually helped. I have not received refunds for MMand a couple of shows I already had tickets for in the fall, but I know that I will at so

Sorry, but it IS delusional. There is no scenario in which it would be viable, and more to the point, no producer in their right mind would pull

FROZEN closes on Broadway May 14

Depends on time... but immediately springs to mind is Mean Girls. Also Harry Potter, it’s been struggling to land. It’s gross has not been in the mega league for such a title and size house. Struggle to get an audience to visit a show? You’ve got double struggle to get them to spend a whole day or two repeated nights.
Tina, Diana, Girl From North Country, Jagged worry me as time goes on... possibly followed by Aint too proud, West Side

This is sad to read, but not too shocking or something to start getting completely dismayed about.
No doubt it’s been bought forward by this awful situation and it’s so sad the production never got to end properly, but an end of Summer or year closure was always on the cards unless fortunes turned on Frozen, prior to Covid, it was not performing where it should be.
I think Disney are being smart. Aladdin and The Lion King are more robust to survive in

The Music Man should do the right thing and postpone/cancel the run now May 14
2020, 07:05:40 PM
I don’t think they will, or need to, make any comment or announcement until End of June when rehearsals are due to start.
It’s obviously likely they will not be able to rehearse but it’s not completely out the realms of possibility, it’s also not out the realms of possibility that during June a clearer picture of a what delay past Sept will be required. Oct, Nov, Spring 2021... it’s still too early to call firmly and to mak
