My face lit up when I saw this announcement! I'm so thrilled to see how it's going to turn out.

I would have to agree that the music of Tangled, while not bad, is worse than Menken's other work, but I honestly enjoyed the new songs from the cruise ship production even less. If it ever makes its way to Broadway, I hope there would be some new, more memorable songs added to the score. Tangled as it is now simply doesn't have a Whole New World, a Let it Go, or a Part of Your World that would keep me coming back to listen to it over and over again. I assume those were the moments taped without an audience. There is absolutely no way the applause would have died down in the two-second pause between "Alexander Hamilton" and "my name is Alexander Hamilton."

What complicates the matter a little is that being Latino is not exactly a matter of race. My great-grandparents were born and grew up in Mexico, and their families had lived in Mexico for generations prior, but to the average American person, they would look white, and one of their daughters was even born with blonde hair. When there are cast members who aren't the same as the ones who opened on Broadway, it's pretty clearly not the Original Broadway Cast. You could call it "the Original Broadway Cast with the exception of ensemble members Betsy Struxness and Emmy Raver-Lapman," but just saying it's the OBC point-blank is misleading.

I just finished watching, and I'll admit to having had high expectations, which isn't always the best idea, but in this case, those expectations were absolutely met and even surpassed.
