HERE LIES LOVE closing November 26
 Nov 26 2023, 11:27:01 PM

So - how did that highly publicized dispute and settlement with the Musicians Union work out for everybody?

British transfers?
 Nov 26 2023, 11:11:22 PM

I’ve heard that THE MOTIVE AND THE CUE may transfer.

OPERATION MINCEMEAT (sophomoric and silly) and CRAZY FOR YOU (dated?) unlikely.

If SUNSET BLVD transfers, I hope it does with Nicole. She seems quite essential to its great reviews and success.

it would be a gift to have SONDHEIM’S OLD FRIENDS on Broadway.

I was told (while attending a performance at its Bridge Theatre) that GUYS AND DOLLS will not transfer. IMHO, there&rsq

September/London theater recommendations requested

I think I saw her in CARRIE on Broadway years ago.

thank you for the suggestions.

I lucked out finding a good seat for Next to Normal, and have also booked the Twiggy musical and Operation Epsilon (Southwark).

I will be booking Rebecca and Little Big Things, along with Guys & Dolls, Crazy for You and Cabaret.

I have extended my trip by a day and will make a run up to Birmingham to catch a preview of the new Sinatra musical at the Birmingham Rep starring M

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. I am aware that Ian McKellan is doing Frank & Percy at The Other Palace. Read the out of town reviews. It seems so predictable. I saw him in Mother Goose in January.

Will look into Little Big Things.

Any hotel recommendations?

I have already booked:

The Mirror (Almeida), The Father and the Assassin (National), Sunset Boulevard, Operation Mincemeat, and Sondheim’s Old Friends.

I have another 6 or 7 slots available slots. Aside from Cabaret, Guys & Dolls, Dr. Semmelweis and Crazy For You, what else? Ian McKellen in the new play Frank & Percy? I saw McKellen in January in Mother Goose. The revival of Private Lives? The one man Vanya?  Any word on Rebecca?

HERE LIES LOVE - Broadway Previews
 Jul 6 2023, 02:33:08 AM

Agree that the view from rear mezzanine (I was in 5th row center of rear mezz) is awful. So far from the stage. Sound is not great all the time either - missed plenty of lyrics.

Lea Salonga was in tonight, but the floor standees didn’t get a playbill until after the show and may not have realized it was Lea. There was entrance applause for her, but it was scattered and brief.

Someone above wrote they thought the gunshots an

Musical Theater Heaven!

Saw tonight’s (Monday 3/27) preview. Spectacular perfect second act - brilliant and jubilant. Heavenly and blissful as another poster wrote earlier. Entire show is packed with entertainment.

Despite great numbers, music, choreography and production values, Act 1 should be more exciting. The marvelous scaffold tap number takes a while to build and seems extraneous to the story. The umbrella sequence also seems unnecessary.  Maybe we need to see Jimmy’s breakdown in Hoboken. Noneth

THE MUSIC MAN Previews
 Dec 22 2021, 01:14:55 AM

I thought the ending was fine. Loved all the dance. Wouldn’t cut anything. Has there ever been a leading man in a Broadway show who danced as much and as well as Jackman? The show is joyful entertainment. Audiences will feel well-rewarded for their investment.

Hillary Clinton was in the audience tonight, along with her daughter and son-in-law. Seated on aisle in Row H. She took her seat just before the house went dark.

What is
 Dec 22 2021, 01:05:42 AM

The writers of the show were, IIRC, filling out an application to submit their show to the New York Musical Theater Festival (NYMF), which has since ceased operations. They couldn’t figure out a name for their show, so they left the application form blank where it asked for the title of the show. The show actually was produced by NYMF, and later was produced on Broadway where it was well-received but did not find enough patrons to sustain it.
