There’s definitely going to be a cast album. Denis O’Hare said it bluntly at the stage door, totally unsolicited, on 10/27. I told him how much I enjoyed the show and his performance and he said, “We’re going to record it.”

I’m inclined to agree with one caveat: this is a show that a group of actors in a university or community theatre could make an absolute meal out of. The Frogs not so much. I could see this o

I certainly acknowledge a historical delineation has existed, but for me the investment in the production (cast, staging, orchestra size, et al) matters more than where it is staged when I consider the appropriateness of the ticket price.

I recorded the show on Thursday night and listened to the music several times yesterday. It's really quite complicated! Someone here earlier discussed the focused and light nature that signifies most late Sondheim, and I'd say that's accurate. The material also ha

FWIW, I didn’t think the show felt incomplete. IE, the music didn’t feel missing even though, of course, I would always want more Sondheim. I think this was a great, truly surreal show and even if it may not have been what was intended at the outset I think the destination makes a case for itself. It helps that the performances and physical production are roundly sterling.

Sadly yes. I was really hoping that’s where Cabaret would land so that it could get gutted but alas… Grey House was a placeholder for this.
