Encores! 2026 Update? Jun 8
2025, 10:55:54 AM
City of Angels would be a great choice for encores....I love that show...saw it twice during bway run, bought the cast album...i've always wondered why it has never been revived....but it lends itself well to an Encores treatment imo

Hugh Jackman at Radio City Apr 20
2025, 06:50:40 PM
I found it enjoyable but underwhelming...I thought his solo broadway show tenish(?) years back was far superior. He seemed kind of small on the Radio City stage -- I am going to chalk that up to the production and not him personally as he is certainly charming and charismatic. HIs singing voice has gotten "goatier" as he has aged. I thought he sounded good in Boy from Oz and the Bway solo show. Regardless, i hope he continues the singing and dancing part of his car

Any Johnny Mathis fans? Mar 31
2025, 11:48:08 AM
My mother was obsessed with him. He was always her favorite, had all his albums. When we were kids we would tease her for her hard crush on him. Anyway, as an adult I started taking her to see him whenever he performed in NYC. And he was always fantastic. I understood the crush .....what a voice. what a career. he kept performing as long as he possibly could. well done, sir.

Mid-Century Modern - now streaming on Hulu Mar 31

I enjoyed this. It is hard to believe that Linda Lavin was 87 and had cancer when filming this. She looked great, was totally sharp. Seemed at least a decade younger. What a loss

Donald Trump Takes Over the Kennedy Center Feb 13
2025, 09:26:14 AM
To me this is one of the most unsettling actions in 3 weeks of increasingly unsettling actions. This type of takeover of cultural institutions is right out of the fascist/authoritarian/dictator playbook. Trump has NEVER been an arts patron or an arts lover. He was always known as among the least charitable rich guys in NYC. I feel bad for Caroline Kennedy. Everything Trump touches turns to ****.

50th Anniversary Revival of A CHORUS LINE still on track for 202 Jan 8
2025, 09:47:34 AM
I don't know if there needs to be a "reinvention" so much as an refresh/update. I saw the 2006 revival, and enjoyed it but walked away with a feeling of "so what"? The costumes and pop culture references were all still from the 70s. Why not just freshen it up to today? more modern dance clothes. intead to "robert goulet robert goulet" to "harry styles Harry styles" (or whatever floats your boat

YOUR PERSONAL TOP 5 OF 2024 Jan 3

Sadly missed so much of what I wanted to see this year. But:
Illinoise was absolutely mesmerizing.
Loved Cabaret with the Lambert led cast.

Adam Lambert -Cabaret Oct 28
2024, 05:01:25 PM
this was my feeling as well when I saw it. Adam was fantastic, just great. The rest of the cast was very good as well. Always happy to see Bebe on stage. I liked the "in the round" presentation. But the direction was just headscratching. I hated the ending which, for me, ended with a whimper instead of a gut punch. Maybe I am dumb but I didn't even fully get what the point was with the increasingly drab costuming until I read more about i

Adam Lambert -Cabaret Sep 26

I saw this a few days ago. I thought the cast was terrific. Agree with those who have said Adam's Tomorrow Belongs To Me and I Dont Care Much were gorgeous. His acting was good too -- this role is right up his alley. I also though Auli'i did a rousing Cabaret. It was an enjoyable evening, and I would see it again. That being said, I did not love the production. I am a huge fan of the Sam Mendes production (RIP Natasha Richardson) and this
