So.. was there any truth to the Adam Lambert rumors ? The oracle and some posters here were indicating that there would be an announcement early last week. I have done a search and I see nothing.
It is Adam. It just hasn’t been announced officially. They may be waiting on announcing until the new Sally has been signed. Last I heard Sally was supposed to be Auliʻi Cravalho, but maybe that has changed.
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

Would Cravalho be the first Sally of color in this production? It's an interesting deviation between their "Sally is a white woman, Cliff is a man of color; she has all the privilege to be optimistic but he has none" dynamic.

Lead Sally yes, tho all of the understudies on Broadway are woc
I really hope they emphasise Adam Lambert’s vocal ability and he/the director doesn’t try to dress it down in the name of ‘character’ or ‘concept’ or anything. This kind of voice does not appear on stage often - I can’t wait to hear what he can do with it.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
If he dusts off his pure theater voice, Tomorrow could be chilling and terrifying. Other than that, I'm not sure the other songs have much room for him to let loose, or that he needs to. Vocally this role should be easier for him than 2 hours of the Queen catalog. Emotionally I'm sure it'll be more challenging and hopefully he'll put in the homework to do the acting justice.
Will he keep his facial hair for the role? Has anyone ever played the Emcee with a beard or mustache?
The replacements in London have all followed the same vocal path in the show. I am afraid if you're going to watch Adam let loose you might be disappointed.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Hmm… I love her performances on screen but I’ve seen Auli’i perform live twice now and both times felt she left a lot to be desired in the acting department, but this role is a lot meatier so will keep an open mind.
It’s intriguing casting but I’m not entirely sure how it’ll shake out, box office wise. I assume Lambert has a dedicated fan base that will turn out but I’m not sure about Cravalho being a big draw- people certainly know Moana but they may not know her, specifically. Regardless, I think it’s telling they went with 2 sort of B-list names rather than one A-lister in one of the roles.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
I would have sworn this is hilariously bad Photoshop (and I guess it still could be...) but based on Instagram photos they really were photographed in the theater.
I will have to google her, but he is one of the biggest pop stars to star on Broadway in awhile if my memory doesn't fail.
"People have their opinions and that doesn't mean that their opinions are wrong or right. I just take it with a grain of salt because opinions are like as*holes, everyone has one".

In what universe is Adam Lambert considered a "B Lister"? He's certainly as big (if not bigger) than Nick Jonas.
