JOHN PROCTOR IS THE VILLAIN Reviews: Run time? Sep 8

Was at the closing last night, my third time seeing the show. Clearly this production meant a lot to me and I feel so lucky to have been able to experience it. Brought a group of friends who hadn't seen it yet and they were all blown away. Performances were fantastic and I have to say the audience was enthusiastic but incredibly respectful.
Kimberly Belflower and Danya Taymor joined the performers onstage after the bows. Belflower gave a short but emotional speech talkin

AUDRA GYPSY Reviews Jul 18

I caught this during one of the final previews and meant to post then but forgot. I was so excited to see it—because duh, Audra (I haven’t seen her on stage since Lady Day, but wow, did that performance leave an impact on me), I’d never seen any iteration of Gypsy but knew of its accolades as one of the greatest American musicals of all time, and (I know this is silly) I was excited to see the new Majestic.
Left the performance pretty disappointed overall. Audra is on

SUNSET BLVD. Revival Jul 11

Just left tonight’s performance—this was my second Sunset Boulevard experience. It’s not that I was necessarily in love with it the first time, but I realize it’s closing soon and felt like it was such an event of the season that I wanted to experience it one last time.
Nicole was magnetic as always, though I will say she added a few more verbal and physical ad libs that felt anachronistic, and I personally found them distracting. The show opens with “1949

DBH felt old and tacky - do people really think that was Hilty the whole time?
In the actual show it's directed to be very clear that the Liza dancer isn't Hilty, adds to the camp element. And if I remember correctly last night the double ran back on stage when the number was over to bow with everyone.
I like Binau's point that we can choose to just take Nicole's win as a sign that her performance was so loved that it withstood some challe

BOOP! THE MUSICAL Reviews May 7

Caught it last night—went in with very low expectations, and while there were several delightful surprises, on the whole the show was pretty meh.
Right out of the gate: Jasmine Amy Rogers deserves all the adulation she’s getting—her charisma was off the charts, her dancing was on point, and (save a few flat notes early on) she was in very fine voice. I’ll be eager to see what this young talent does next, especially in a different genre of show. Honestly

DEATH BECOMES HER Reviews Dec 21

bwayphreak234 said: "Am I the only one not that impressed with Michelle Williams' vocals? The night I went she was terribly off-key during the act 2 opening. It was pretty bad."
She was on key at the performance I caught, but I think it’s fair to say that she’s a strong singer whose voice is not for everyone. I thought she sounded great, but my friend said her singing sounded really nasal-y to him.
I do agree that she doesn’t have the gra

DEATH BECOMES HER Reviews Dec 20

Saw this last week: this show leans unapologetically into its sharp humor and campy energy, and honestly, I had a blast.
What's stood out to me is how the book embraces its "nastiness." Zinger after biting zinger gets lobbed without feeling overly repetitive (even though, yes, most of the insults are about looks and age). I found it refreshing that the show wasn’t afraid to fully lean into how cruel these characters could be. It reminded me of how Mean Girls

Long time lurker, first time poster. Go easy on me :)
I went into this show with an open mind having not read any reviews or heard any word of mouth about the production. I caught the 2016 revival, have seen plenty of footage from various productions online, and love the original movie. Here’s my takeaway (details below): the source material—the musical’s book and score, not the original Wilder film—isn’t great, and even with a fresh approach to s
