But Ragtime settles into a richer and more internal mode quickly, in a large part due to the textured performances of its leads and the thought they’ve applied to Ahrens and Flaherty’s score."

See, the difference between me and Robert Hofler is if I compared something to Spielberg's LINCOLN, it would be the highest praise!

I agree- and Hofler just seems to take it for granted that everybody feels the way he does. It’s a bizarrely mean-spirited review.

It should be very hard for me to keep from shedding a tear when Henry gives his Tony acceptance speech next year. What an extraordinary talent.
Has anyone heard anything yet on when exactly the company is recording the new cast album? (Next week, perhaps?)

And not to be ageist, but him opening the review re-litigating who should've directed the 1975 film version - 50 years ago????? I mean, talk about coming in with preconceived notions...!
