How kid friendly is this?
Would two mature musical theatre loving teenage girls be alright?
No nudity?

Porgy And Bess 1st Preview
 Dec 23 2011, 03:23:08 PM
Saw it with my ex husband last night!
He loved everything about it, but he is a trained musician and loves the piece anyway. I knew nothing about it going in- I felt it was a little bland.

I have, however, been a big fan of Audra's since Private Practice! I hope she didn't leave the TV series for this.

What will I kick myself for not seeing?
 Dec 20 2011, 11:33:52 AM
I believe How I Learned to Drive will be at off broadway at second stage.

If you've never seen it, I recommend it. I saw my daughter's college production a couple years back. Fantastic!!! :) :) :_

Wildhorn/Lloyd Webber Collaboration

Chipotle employs unethical practices when hiring. Most chipotles across the country have at least two illegal immigrants employed. If we want to see the economy improve, we can't afford to "heart" chipotle.

An idea: GREASE and FOLLIES are the exact same musical

I would say that Grease 2 is one of the most underrated musicals.

Follies was ok. Why are we paying top dollar to watch performers past their prime?

Love Grease though :) :) :)

If You Could Take Home One Show

The original Evita!
Bonnie and Clyde or Pricilla
 Dec 7 2011, 05:16:54 PM
Haven't seen Bonnie & Clyde, but had SO MUCH FUN at Priscilla!

The music was so fun! We went to Applebee's afterwards and could not stop singing our favorite songs! Just a silly, fun, night at the theatre.

Rogers & Hammerstein: Broadway 2012?
 Dec 7 2011, 05:13:58 PM
I would love an R&H revival!

But I'm not sure if I want either Beane or Lane associated with this.

Would it be so bad if an unaltered revival of The King and I came to broadway? Not at all.

ON A CLEAR DAY----

Absolutely LOVE Harry Connick Jr.

Seeing it next week with my favorite ladies!!!

Met Opera audience apparent joined Occupy Lincoln Center protest last night?
 Dec 2 2011, 02:03:02 PM
What a bad decision on the part of Ross and Glass.
Lincoln Center is almost entirely funded by the donations of the 1%. If it weren't for their donations, Glass would not be living as well as he does. You think he makes a fortune off album sales? Ha.

Shubert Alley Shrinking.....
 Dec 2 2011, 01:59:52 PM
How much of an expansion? Surely they aren't taking the ENTIRE alley.
Would anyone want to see a revival of Torch Song Trilogy?
 Nov 30 2011, 06:44:11 PM
I concur! Would love to see this happen!
actors taking over other actors roles...and doing better
 Nov 30 2011, 06:21:22 PM
I believe Rachel York came into Dirty Rotten after Sherie Rene Scott left... I loved seeing Rachel York.

I also second the Jeremy Jordan replacing Matt Cavenaugh.

Also loved Marin Mazzie in Spamalot!

:)

Bonnie & Clyde or Newsies?
 Nov 30 2011, 04:17:50 PM
I'm just wondering what one would recommend for a teenage girl, really. I think they're very mature- it's just hard to an appropriate amount of violence.

As for Memphis, it just fell flat. There was nothing about Memphis that felt new.

Maybe B&C will close in time for Jeremy to start Newsies rehearsals!

Les Miz Movie Casting Rumors: Taylor Swift as Eponine?
 Nov 30 2011, 04:02:05 PM
It's a great idea in theory... This should bring teenage girls in by droves based on Swift's ticket and album sales.

Nothing can repair her acting abilities, but it is a movie. It's not like she'll be singing live at any point. They'll make her sound great, regardless of talent.

Bonnie & Clyde or Newsies?
 Nov 30 2011, 02:54:42 PM
My daughters and I make an annual trip into the city every spring to see a few shows and I'm looking for some recommendations. The girls are both theatre enthusiasts, ages 11 and 14, and we're already making plans to see Sister Act.

For those of you that have seen them, would you recommend Bonnie & Clyde or Newsies? Do you think Bonnie & Clyde will still be running?

(Last year we saw Memphis on my sister's recommendation. What a mistake that was!)

:) :) :)
