I am! Full report later but the rush is stingy as hell. In-person is as bad as the TT, and you can only get orch as “upgraded rush” for $79. I love JTL so I splurged.
I’ll post a full report later, but show started at 2:01 and then multiple HUGE groups started s

The entire show all you hear is the staff running around talking LOUDLY to each other, like there isn't a show going on. It's been like that ever since I can remember and I'll never understand."
Boy at that the truth. I recall standing room at the Lunt for Sweeney Todd with Groban and I literally shushed the ushers more t

1000% And if there is any risk of sales being "too soft" they will pitch in $1-2 Million in advertising spend and remind people why this is the funniest show on Broadway.

updated rush report for those interested. I arrived at about 8:20 this morning and was #1 in line. #2 person arrived closer to 9am. by 10am there were only 5 people queued up. I tried todaytix at 9am and was told rush tix were all taken. TT probably has very few rush seats. TodayTix rush/lottery is such a gimmick.
The friendly box office lady said clearly "rush seats are in the second row of the ORCH." I said that's great i'll take 2. Got cente

SOMEONE SPECTACULAR @Signature Aug 9

I caught this last weekend and mostly enjoyed it. I appreciated the sharp humor, but boy everyone in that group was pretty selfish. I guess that is the intention. Grieving people are allowed some level of selfishness when going through a tough time.
Sad to hear that you liked Ana Cruz Kayne--she was out the night I saw it. But Dominque (sp) was the understudy and I thought she was great. I guess she already knew the script =).

"Job's numbers are pretty soft but they managed full capacity so they're probably hoping for word of mouth to help pick it up (from people I've talked to, there seems to be a lot of intrigue around the show so we'll see how it ends up doing)." i really haven't been paying close attention but average ticket price of $69. So they have been doing a lot of discounts for this show?? right? I know it's a two hander with low running costs but still...

Ahh. I'm hoping to get back to the show later this week so will pay special attention to the language. Will be a very different viewing experience watching the play now knowing the ending. Hopefully I can get my hands on a copy of the play itself.
Also to choosing the therapist. there are all kinds of HIPAA and ethical rules that prevent corporations from deciding which doctors an employee can see. Even if is a follow up to a work-related incident. Even basic questions around

not sure how to do the spoiler alert but wanted to add my thoughts. I'll try to keep this vague-ish. I've only see this once @ connelly theater, but my interpretation was that SHE chose him as her therapist. or perhaps she discovered what he is accused of doing after he was assigned to her. either way I believe she went into the therapy session with full knowledge of it all and was trying to suss him out.
That said I did find the ending to be a radical left turn but it su

Menzel-led REDWOOD to transfer to Broadway this season Jul 15

totally. I actually double checked my WI-Fi was working as I thought the error was on my end.
I'm not sure the understudy matters. Grosses will fall dramatically if/when Idina is out (See what I did there =0) Just like Mr Saturday Night a few years ago. Without Billy Crystal there was no show--they literally cancelled including 1 week of performances when billy had a planned absence.

Biggest disappointments from established teams? Jul 14
2024, 02:58:07 PM
Crazy For You I really enjoyed in London but it did not take off despite decent reviews. Charley Stemp was as charming as ever but by the end of the run they were offering all seats for $30-$50 and still had trouble filling the house. It was a financial flop for sure. Luckily i was capitalized for a lot less than the $20 million that would be required for Broadway.
edit to add: Plaza Suite was a huge hit. I believe it extended it's original run on broadway.

LEMPICKA Reviews Apr 26

hi Lempicka fans - Anyone know if Ms Espinoza went on Thurs evening? I stopped by the box office about 5pm and the friendly BO lady said she was scheduled to GO ON. DID SHE? How was she? I ask because I have a friend in town and we have one slot left for Friday. They only want to see this show on FRI 4/26 IF Ms. Espinoza is on. NO understudies, THANKS for your info.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 4/7/24 Apr 11

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, MayAudraBlessYou2
in my experience paper is used to fill the audience so the production (actors, production staff, etc) can hone their show and make it better with a fuller audience. I do understand usually paper is last minute and I try to keep a lot of flexibility in my schedule to allow for this. And don't forget paper services rely on discretion though the producers cannot guarantee that people will not "gossip" It just seems odd to me that these shows IN PREVIEWS would rather play to a 40-50% house rather than offering some comps. especially at critics performances.
I'm not a producer and I understand Broadway is a business, but still. And yes I am looking for free shows. Everyone has the same access to papering services that I do. Sign up. pay a fee. check the web site throughout the day looking for interesting/compelling show offers. I don't see this as being greedy at all.

SUFFS Previews Apr 11

Taub just doesn't understand how to execute this story in a way that feels active and interesting. Again, I haven't seen it on Broadway...I did at the Public...but the core concept of execution is flawed. It's like watching a book report.
This is exactly what I said to my theater companion after a preview on Saturday. Taub needed a mentor or dramaturg or someone to help her shape this story. It is bland, over stuffed, has no point of view, or character

Question and I know this is a dicey subject online. But I belong to a couple of subscription papering services and have been utterly shocked at the lack of offers for low attendance shows: e.g. Lempicka, Rock & Roll, Patriots, Suffs, even Water has some performances at 30-40% capacity.
Curious to know where you friends are getting their comps? is it a friends of the cast or community groups that are getting tickets?
Thanks
