Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 7/20/25

I know it only played four shows but that “Izzy” number is crazy.

If Jean doesn’t end up able to continue with the show, it’s gonna be curtains for Izzy.
Major price cut at John Proctor with Sadie gone.

Definitely. But still a very respectable number for a small theater, at the full capacity. Also, higher grosses than majority of new musicals of this season that have closed.

I gasped.
What a send off for SUNSET!

A good amount of turnover this week on Broadway. Happy trails to SUNSET BOULEVARD, Orville Peck, Eva Noblezada, Jordan Fisher, Solea Pfeiffer, Austin Durant, and Andy Karl.
Def still respectable numbers over at JOHN PROCTOR without Sink. Still sold-out houses.

Insane for Sunset.
Those are really not bad post-Sadie numbers for John Proctor. I know the Booth is occupied and it announced a final one week extension but I kinda wish the show was open ended. I feel like it has the strength to last longer.

Did anyone foresee BVSC doing so well, because I did not

Definitely not. I'm impressed by how well it has held up week after week this summer.

Other than CALL ME IZZY, nothing particularly remarkable or unexpected here, but awesome for SUNSET going out on FIRE.
Curious to see how Billy & Marisha fare in CABARET. There is no upward trajectory, so it’s going to be a matter of if it will run to October or the ship will sink faster (especially with Billy now mired in controversy - again)

I definitely didn't, it wasn't selling well at all before the show has started previews. Good discount (which still works), very positive WOM all have helped. Regarding marketing, I also saw lots of BVSC Broadway posters uptown in unlikely places like bodegas, so this show has reached many people in their target audience. I think it'll occupy the theater for a while.

My apologies if this has been answered, but does anyone know where/if I can find off-Broadway grosses? I'd be curious to see those Heathers numbers

Sunset's final week I believe was also its highest grossing week of the entire run. I know it mentions a top tickets price of $599.00 I guess it doesn't take into consideration when with dynamic pricing some seats for the final sold for over 1k each.

Wow. Sunset didn't just finally hit that $2M mark; it blew right past it. Impressive.
While DBH has proven it doesn't necessarily need its stars to succeed, nice to see it got a boost. Having the four main principals in Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, and Sunday matinee, had to have helped a bit.

Off Broadway grosses don't get released publicly like Broadway grosses do.

I don't think those grosses covered everyone's salaries last week.

Has there been any whispering about Sunset’s recoupment status?

I'm sure if they did/do recoup they'd announce that. Just by the bits and pieces I've read here and there I'm guessing it was somewhere in the $12-14 million area of recouping the $15 million it cost to capitalize.

The capitalization was only $15M? That is MUCH lower than I thought. Honestly, if they had the ability to ride out the rest of the summer, they probably could’ve recouped since the two main selling points are what won the awards

Yeah I was kind of shocked to learn that the capitalization for Sunset was $15million and for Gypsy $19 million. The sites I read them on referred to legal filings

The numbers and chart position for Sunset Blvd make me so happy, both for the show and for ALW. The final performance was a Broadway event.

Gypsy isn't anywhere close to recouping right?
