Patti LuPone ANYTHING GOES Clip

Patti has said the same, but that year's most outstanding performance was clearly Joanna Gleason's masterful work in Into The Woods.

If you're missing Riedel so badly, maybe you need better aim?

Viciously Funny Reviews
 Feb 11 2025, 01:55:20 PM

Search for any of the scathing reviews of Suzanne Somers' one-woman show, The Blonde in the Thunderbird.  Being trapped watching this travesty of supposed theater, I can state that those critics were generous.

Who should host the Tonys?

Who was your favorite host of the Oscar's?  Or the Golden Globe's?

Memorable Moments on Stage in 2024?
 Dec 28 2024, 11:01:20 PM

Robbie Fairchild in Illinoise (at the Armory).  It was my first time seeing him dance and from the start I couldn't take my eyes off of him. I saw the show twice more (with different people as "Clark" each time) and no one moved me as much as Robbie.

The fall down the stairs in Death Becomes Her.

Every moment of Oh, Mary!

The last minute of "Rose's Turn" and the choices made at "So

GYPSY Previews
 Dec 17 2024, 11:24:04 PM

I saw it in an early preview, and knowing that Wolfe often comes up with his best ideas at the last minute, I was hoping that he'd pull this off.

But from the comments here, nope.  My problem with this production is that for the most part, there IS NO COMEDY in this musical comedy.  For example, in the Chinese restaurant scene, after Rose steals nearly everything off the tables, she asks a waitress who has entered to bus the tables for a spoon to stir her tea (sm

How are shows able to do a 9 performance week?
 Dec 5 2024, 03:34:26 PM

It's not against union rules.  The 9th show is paid at double-time, unless the previous/following week has only 7 performances (remembering that the Broadway "week" is Monday-Sunday), in which case it's just paid at the regular rate or an additional 1/8 of salary.

And yes, in most cases everyone in the company DOES do all 9 shows.  We don't like it, but it happens.

you can go to the box office and get a $54 ticket "partial view", those are perfectly fine, but my real advice is to skip it, I have seen better drag shows for free at gay bars.

Could you tell us where those gay bars are?  I'd be amazed to see free drag shows that are even better than "Oh, Mary".

Michael Riedel has been let go from his radio show at 710 WOR
 Nov 18 2024, 11:31:36 PM

I just read his book "Razzle Dazzle" (I got it at a used book store in their $1 bin), and wow... I knew he was a sad gossip columnist who would make up crap to sell papers, but I didn't realize just how bad a writer he was. The fawning blurbs from Kevin Spacey and Scott Rudin should  be enough to let you know how terrible and badly researched his book was. I stopped counting how many easily researchable mistakes were in it, because I don't have that kind of leisure time

9 show week question for & JULIET

They don't have a 9-show week at the time you specified.  Broadway weeks run from Mon-Sun (not Sun-Sat), and Mondays are usually dark.

William Finn's Romance in Hard Times still haunts me after seeing it at The Public back in the 90s.

Biggest disappointments from established teams?

Oh, lort, I'd already blocked this from my mind.  SO disappointing.  Like a 90s Hallmark TV Movie, with added bits from the 1996 dancing-cockroach movie Joe's Apartment for some reason.

Biggest disappointments from established teams?
 Jul 15 2024, 09:41:02 AM

Matlby and Shire's "Big" was... depressing.  My friend left at intermission, while I unwisely stayed only to be confronted with not one, but TWO dream ballets (one on skateboards).  I'd been obsessed with their music for ages, but this score was terrible.

I left humming the sets.

Favorite lines of dialogue written to excuse or make sense of a lyric?
 May 17 2024, 05:19:59 PM

In Jagged Little Pill, two people interrupt the singer of "Ironic"...

"Hold up... Wait a second! That's actually not ironic!"

"Right? If we're using irony as defined in Greek tragedy, I don't see how, like, a fly in your beverage applies."

"That's not irony... that's just like... shi**y."

Non Equity Tours
 Jan 30 2024, 09:53:09 AM

There is currently a non-equity tour out now, and the base pay for the ensemble is what I used to get for doing non-equity tours... THIRTY YEARS AGO.  It used to be that those tours were the only place that young performers could be paid well and gain valuable experience, but it seems things have changed and producers are taking advantage of them.

It's becoming obvious many people on this forum don't know what a flop is. A flop is any show that fails to recoup it's investment and make a profit. It doesn't matter if it runs for a long time or is praised by critics or audienc
