Can't believe I missed the Jerry Herman tribute. Did Angie sing?

If you want safe and cheap, the Chelsea Lodge is a good choice. But it's obviously not in Times Sq.

Joey, thanks for posting that video of Kert. pventertainment has SO many great Broadway videos up on YT.

It's heartbreaking to see Kert like that, so gaunt. Very sad, but a triumphant performance.

Thanks for the reviews guys. A sad day for theater, but I'm happy the show went out on top.

Isn't there a Roundabout production of this coming up? With Christine Baranski?
Polly Bergen in Follies
 Oct 10 2008, 10:53:26 PM
Polly Bergen's Carlotta was one of the few redeeming qualities of the most recent Follies revival.

Her "I'm Still Here" was very moving IMO. It used to be on YouKnowWhat but it is no longer there much to my dismay.

Anyone else agree on this point? And if you can point me towards audio/video of her doing this... :)

MAME kinda lays there like a bad date

I don't know how anyone can hate Mame. It's a masterpiece and is without question in Jerry Herman's top three (Le Cage, Mame and Hello Dolly!).

It made Lansbury a theater star FYI. For that reason alone it deserves respect and adoration.

I really wish I had seen Kritzer. Time to look for "alternate" recordings of the show(s).

Great casting Phil.
Will Lansbury return to the stage?
 Aug 14 2008, 11:42:48 AM
I read an interview with Angie that was conducted in the fall of 2007. At the end of the piece she's asked about returning to the stage. She said she didn't want to anchor a production but would be interested in doing a Stritch/Arthur-esque one woman show or playing a supporting role (she mentioned Madame Armfelfdt in "A Little Night Music").

There's life left in this old girl yet!

re: Does anybody else want a wedding reception like this?

I imagine the groom consummated his marriage with one of those hunky male singer/dancers. No way he's straight.

I wish we could resurrect Charles Nelson Rielly to play Norma.

IIRC the YouTube clip is just a one-off performance Angie and Bea did in the late '80's.

I don't see how someone can like Loudon's Tony performance over the 1999 one. The latter brings me to tears just about every time I watch it. Obviously, she is in better performing shape in the Tony performance, but the emotional impact is not as great.
Mame at the Tonys
 Aug 9 2008, 12:28:15 AM
I once saw footage of "Mame" from the musical of the same name being performed at the Tonys. I'm pretty sure it was from the '83 revival but I can't be positive.

Can anyone confirm/deny? And if anyone has that footage I'd like to do a trade or something.
